CNY-LES FREAK
Winds seem to be veering to the NW as well so I'd bet we see something start falling within the next few minutes
CNY-LES FREAK
may be a pleasant surprise for Tug ans I so we'll see....
CNY-LES FREAK
Snow has begun and from the looks of the flake size definitely has the potential to accumulate but we need a few degrees colder. It should drop quickly with dew's in the upper 20's across the area. It'd be nice just to see snow falling again and I never thought I'd be saying that up here, WoW! CNY-LES FREAK
We should definitely see a few hrs of action cause the radar extends quite a ways with a few inbedded stronger bands now showing up and starting to advance this way. Man its really bad when Im rooting for a dusting, sad I tell ya but ill take anything at this point Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk 1

TugHillMatt
Yep, actually snowing pretty decently right now. Things are moistening up. We'll have to rely on what little effect we can get with the minimal cold we get...because Synoptic systems don't seem to take a track that hammers PA and much of Upstate NY anymore.
TugHillMatt
Steady snowfall right now that is covering everything up fairly quickly. I would be ecstatic if we got a couple inches through tomorrow. With highs around freezing over the next couple days, it could actually look like winter for a bit! Our two inch snowfall from the other day did survive for a day and a half, but disappeared when it hit the 40s yesterday.
TugHillMatt
It's funny because BUF had Oswego County as "cloudy" for tonight. Now it is updated to "Cloudy with scattered flurries." It's definitely more than that. Some of the heaviest echoes run right over the county.

CNY-LES FREAK
Well that was nice while it lasted, but I think we see a bit more later tonight through tomorrow as the lakes should produce something with a persistent NW flow but with not much moisture around the lake will have to do it alone and thats tough but this evenings snow was a nice surprise!Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
TugHillMatt
Checking on radar, looks like flow is QUICKLY shifting to NW flow...which means I will set right on the edge pretty soon. So maddening how quickly it transitions.
TugHillMatt
Hey...400 to 600 coatings this winter and we could hit average!
rochesterdave
Looks like a lot of New England got screwed by diurnal effects and marginal temps. Turns out snow has a heck of a time accumulating at 35f. Haha. Share the pain.

I think we hit on one of them. So I have to ask. If the ensembles are showing a cold pattern, why is every operational run showing warmth and rain? It’s not adding up. rochesterdave
Total zonal flow for December.
CNY-LES FREAK
H850's down to -11C which is plenty cold enough for LE but its bone dry and a NW flow just cant produce enough moisture on its own! So when its cold enough to snow its dry and when we have moisture available it usually falls as rain, lol! We just cant catch a break this yr!

BuffaloWeather
If you want to be selective yesterday through Tuesday is below normal with temps, just no moisture source. We're getting boughts of below normal temps but timing is off for storms and LES.
cleetussnow
Just now, BuffaloWeather said: It gets colder then normal for 2-3 days following the cutter, then a full out torch on the GEFS. Day 10 to 15 on the GEFS is garbage coast to coast. Teles support zonal flow.
BuffaloWeather
Just a horrible EPS run last night. Pacific completely takes over with zonal flow. Definitely an above average month incoming.
