Was living in West Seneca and we got close to 20” if I remember correctly after missing out on the band just to my south over the Stadium for hours. Ahhh good lake effect storms, don’t even remember what those are anymore. With winters becoming what they are here we are considering more and more moving to Wyoming in the next couple of years after my foster sons adoption is finalized. Looks like it was a different one. The Bills game one was the week after, what a great few weeks there. That December I think I had over 60"

Well to be fair almost every long range winter outlook had us 10-20% below normal climo snowfall. So this should be expected.

I can see 3-4" per hour at times this afternoon. If this was hitting overnight as the airmass isn't that great I could see 2' somewhere, but during daytime I think maxes around 1' of slop. If you liked all 4 seasons and tended to more enjoy warmth but still the occasional snowstorm (thinking when im retired haha) West and North Texas is pretty unique. More snow/ice storms because of elevation but so far down south that you go from 25F and a 4-8" snowstorm right back into the 60s and and 70s with sun in January. Now that I think of it, if you were to use the census bureau definition of the Southern US, is Texas the snowiest? (Outside of the elevated Appalachian ranges)
rochesterdave
I’ve always been fascinated by some of the mountains in the SE. Taos, Angel Fire, Wolf Creek Pass, Snow Bowl near Flag. All cool places. Such extremes. Texas would be tough. Not much in the way of mountains. I guess they must get it on those high plains but I bet it just blows away or mixes with the sand. I don’t do the level hiking you do but I did do a couple 1000-2500ft elevation changes- short day hikes. 1
