I’m not believing anything at this point. These LR models are all over the map. They are cold one day and warm the next. GEFS shows cold then warm and EPS does same flip. Honestly it’s getting tiring. I know one thing is cold winters like we were used to are over going forward. We’ll always be cool to occasionally cold but long duration cold outbreaks are a thing of the past. Sad .

Yep. Winter temps on average are 3-4 degrees warmer than normal around here. That is a pretty massive increase in temps in such a short time. Snowfall averages will eventually start to decrease over time, as we already have seen with what wolfie posted. Snowfall retention/depth is the one that will take the biggest hit.

I live in NYC and my average is 26 inches. I had just 2 inches the whole winter last year.

I miss the winters of 2000 when I was getting 40+ continously.

Redfield, NY..I'm fascinated

What is the least snowiest winter there in the last 25 years?

Nice houses there to buy?

Well it's forbidden for anyone to move to a snowier location than me so your request is denied ;)

Here is a list of yearly Snowfalls..

Seems boring unless you like playing with teddy bears

Lol What did you expect? "NYC NORTH" ..More than 60% of NY state is rural, hills, mountainous etc..

Pulaski to redfield is known for its fishing (salmon river) so if you like outdoor recreational activities then upstates for you lol

You would have to pay me to live there. Too far away from a real city to entice me. That's why I like Buffalo so much. There are shows/events going on at all times throughout the year, an explosion of things to do in recent years compared to 10-15 years ago. Pegula saved the downtown area. If I want nature I just drive 15-20 minutes to the hills. If I lived over where you guys do I'd be in the Adirondacks almost every weekend.

2nd half was what people were saying...not the 1st.

I hope you are right, but most of the reports I am reading make it sound like January could be our only real shot and February will torch. Even with that being said, I'm heading up to the ADK to check out a rental for the month of February. Sucks being a snowmobiler these days, have to chase the snow like crazy and even the places like the ADK and TUG are no sure thing these past 5 years.

I have been to Oswego and its pretty crowded ( of course its not crowded as NYC ) but I would live up there. Populated and alot of snow every winter.

Oswego city doesn’t get a ton of snow. Nor does the SUNY Oswego campus. To get into the bigger snow you need to move inland by several miles to Hannibal, Fulton or Mexico. Not nearly the stuff they see on the hill but they are semi populated.

Yep, sure was. Was living in West Seneca and we got close to 20” if I remember correctly after missing out on the band just to my south over the Stadium for hours. Ahhh good lake effect storms, don’t even remember what those are anymore. With winters becoming what they are here we are considering more and more moving to Wyoming in the next couple of years after my foster sons adoption is finalized.

I wonder what passes for culture up on the hill? Seems like a place in need of an artist enclave or hippie commune. They’d love that

There was a "fiddler's club" that had a camp/center not far from where I was at. They were very active

Yeah I was saying this to my wife earlier. It’s now the norm to have longer stretches of grass on the cold months than it used to be. Seems like just 10 years ago it was quite the opposite. You’d have 5 or 6 days with snowpack, a warmup, melting but then the snowpack was right back for 5 to 7 more days... now we have snow for a day or two and 7 to 10 days of bare ground...welcome to our new normal.
