Why?  “Way to early”. We talking 5 days out - now is the time to get a forum going.  Yes it could be gone by Saturday -  but we don’t have a long winter!  Fire it up!

Nah..hold off a while yet.  Starting a thread too early is the kiss of death.  Trust us on this stuff Joey...you don’t want to mess up a good thing.

Aight - think we should.  We live for this shit why not start now?  It’s less than 6 day out and we don’t get many of these.  Some miss some hit.  It’s the ride that’s fun!

That’s a classic look for SNE.  Would be wild to see how much ORH is just destroying climo through mid-December.

Yeah if it actually happened and ORH got like a foot, they’d be pretty high on the historical list through Dec 17. Might only trail 1992 if that happened.

Of course, 2019 was at like 25” by that point and that went to shit. Lol.

Alright I will calm down! But can’t wait for a thread dedicated to the potential

Nah you’re good man. I’m not sure there is even a hard rule about this but whoever starts the thread has a lot of explaining to do if it craps out and they’re banned from starting another one lol. Lots of weenie superstition around herr.

We’ve done threads at 5 days out. Especially if there is strong support for the system.

6+ is kind of unofficially frowned upon.

I think it was Mar 17 where the signal was so strong from like D10. It was pretty crazy. Had SNE in the crush zone then inside D2 is when the inevitable NW ticks caught by the nammy began to happen and Freak got like 50”.

I like this JoeSnow guy. Big weenie, he’s all in. Get pumped.

Haha - why not!  I mean don’t fear it! We know some will be missed but the fun is the ride! Yes it stinks to have a storm disappear but the ride along the way of it hits is awesome!  I won’t start it as I may get kicked out of here being the new guy

Self control and temperance is the way of the Force.  Obi-Wan has taught you well young Joey.... but you’re not a Jedi yet.

It’s been a sneaky bad snow stretch down here. March 2019 was half decent... but we’re going back to March 2018 for a real good double digit snow. Approaching 3 years

Wanna say Jan '18 blizzard for last double digit hit. Not that long ago, but I've been badly spoiled by the last decade.

Iirc the ‘shift’ had more to do with mid level tracks going across SNE but models still putting out 18+ south of it so many forecasters were hesitant to put up big amounts but still did. But then the rule of ‘never go higher than 12” if mid levels are north of you’ was discussed, even if models are printing more.

Especially if you started a thread for it 6+ days out.  The toaster baths and bridge jumping then goes up exponentially.

That was still a great storm at least here. Had about 13 inches and then some sleet/freezing drizzle. The WCB in that was pretty awesome.

Obviously it would have been nice to get the 87 inches that fell in Stowe, but I’d sign on the dotted like for another one right now if offered.
