Do we think this is because it is moving faster or because the precip shield is larger?

Comparing it to some of the model runs yesterday ... the low location is basically right on off the SC coast, and that's accurate for the time frame, but the precip shield was grossly undermodeled, especially on the western side, but also throughout the entire "snow" region of the precip.  That could be good news.  Maybe we get an overperformance here.  We'll have to see how the banding sets up later.

Reminder: snow is awesome. Time to get out of the models and outside!

Yes. It has been a couple years since we’ve had a daytime snowfall. It’s much more fun watching the snow fall then just waking up and having it on the ground. And we will also have steady snow moderate at times for the next 12 hours.

On the 1st, most of that fell during the day.  I went out and took at walk in it.

Agree - I think that 11” in March a couple years ago was mostly daytime, or at least kept going into the next day. But most  of the more significant snows the last 10 years seem to be mostly at night.
