Looks like parts of Springfield are starting to go down now based on the City utility website. Been getting emails here from the local coop asking people for help and to turn off everything possible cause of the same reasons! This is not good. This area is just not use to cold extremes like this, does look to start warming up a bit during the daytime here soon though.

MUWX
Local news just confirmed that springfield has started rolling blackouts. They are on their own power company, but I assume the rest of the region will be following suit.
draco1188
Ignore my previous post. lol looks like the kuchera ratio was actually closer to actual amounts here. I took a measurement in a bad location in my back yard. I just went out to get a more accurate reading and showing 7" - others in the Russellville area are showing 7 and its still snowing.

ERCOT plants run on fuels that don't do well in sustained cold because honestly, they don't really need to (usually). Nuclear or coal would be the answer right now... good luck getting approval for those.

NWAflizzard
Tulsa's new expected snowfall map. Seems a bit on the high end based on what I am seeing. At least for NWA.

Even NAM3k is showing this now, after 12Z run kept moisture southeast of ICT. I started seeing signs from a couple other models trending toward it. That would really cap off a pretty memorable 2 week stretch of winter weather around here!
jojo762
Road conditions have declined markedly over the past hour and a half in the KC metro as a moderate band of snow continues to persist... JoMo
Liberty Utilities is also doing rolling blackouts. Springfield NWS says Joplin got 4" but I don't know about that. Somewhere between 4-7" has been reported. Also they are going with additional snow of 2-6" Tues night (most being their S and SE counties)
