All the globals bring the warm front through, but the ECMWF is the only one fast enough to get us there. Record of 87 at ORD is most likely out of reach, though. South of the city certainly looks to make a run at 80. More questionable farther north. fwiw... you will never guess the last time that Chicago reached 80 after 10/20. It was 2007.

I don’t want to hear any winter complaining from the central Iowa folks. They have had a couple of high end/abnormal events lately. Natester
All the personal weather stations in Cedar Rapids show temps below 32F which means that the snow isn't as wet as if the temp were, say, 33F or 34F. I wouldn't be surprised if Cedar Rapids saw 5+ inches of snow from this band.

hawkeye_wx
The bright returns on radar have slowly sagged south of me, so it'll be interesting to see how quickly this heavy stuff tapers off. There is still decent snow going back west for a couple hours.
hlcater
Thunder. Lol. This is honestly one of the better surprise snow events I can remember. I've got an inch in the grass over the past 30 min or so.

Hoosier
This would have been a solid winter wx advisory event had there been any anticipation at all. An advisory would have been justified even if it had been more like 2-4" instead of 4-9", given that it's the first accumulating snow of the season. The snow squall warning product sort of saves it from being as much of a catastrophic forecast failure compared to a couple years ago, but the snow squall warning product was not really intended for this type of situation.
