1.2” at DSM.

Bit further south, and it would have been game.

.

DSM 7.4" 10/27/1980

Ankeny to the north DSM 6.9" 10/27/1980

Indianola to south DSM  5.0" 10/27/1980

Newton to the east DSM 6.7" 10/26/1997

Guthrie Center to west DSM 7.0" 10/26/1997

Looks like this area is seeing heavier snows a little early and quite significant just like these past years even if DSM is just outside the heavier stuff. Very impressive event today.

Looks like the northern areas are in for a whollop later this week. Even half that for this time of year is impressive. We will see. After today's event, and tomorrow's, the system coming later this week is a bit stronger. The strong ENE winds off of the Lake could really dump a lot of snow along the ridges here Thurs night. Duluth's record is 10.6" 10/27/2017.

Lookin pretty torchy for us in the Ohio Valley as we go into late October and early November. Hopefully winter has something up it's sleeve.

nina often is a roller coaster. im definitely ready for snow November 1st but after all the complaining some did last year that a cold, snowy November is a bad omen for winter, I hope all is quiet if it is a milder November lol

I finished with 4.4 inches from 0.27" liquid.  It's turning into wet slop now.

Very impressive!  Great start to the new season.

Temps crashed from 41 to 33 here as the snow moved in.  Had a brief period of moderate snow.  No accum but very nice to see a daytime snow event in mid Oct.  Had a burst of sleet with a convective shower at the tail-end.

Gonna be that kind of week where sunshine is hard to find which is usually followed by an overcast weekend. Models are in agreement on that, as well. The GFS is even hinting a washout for the entire upcoming weekend into early next week with temps stuck in the 40s. Won't be seeing any sun until Thursday.

....and just like that Winter Storm Warning for MSP. Wonder how many of those have been issued in October.

Sat images showing decent convection across SD and S MN. Cauliflower look. Cirrus somewhat obscuring tho. Guess models where taking that into account and it'll probably pan out to some good numbers down there. Looking for my snow to start later this aftrn or evening. Reports from SW MN showing 4-6" so far.

Looks like Marshall, MN is heading for a record for Oct. They're reporting 4" as of 11 am and the record is 4.5" 10/2/1999 with 4" 10/13/1960 & 10/10/1970. Still snowing with another heavy band moving through SW MN. Pipestone will be near record as well with 3.5" at noon. 6" 10/17/1937 &  4.2" 10/23/1932 &  4" 10/25/1918 - 10/9/1970 - 10/20/1980

Probably once or twice. Looks like they will break the record for largest snowfall this early in the season.
