Tonight
A chance of rain and thunderstorms before 1am, then rain likely and possibly a thunderstorm between 1am and 2am, then rain after 2am. Patchy fog between 10pm and 3am. Low around 64. South wind 6 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday
Rain and possibly a thunderstorm before 11am, then a chance of rain between 11am and 2pm. Patchy fog between 7am and noon. High near 71. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 47 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Wednesday Night
Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming clear, with a low around 51. Southwest wind around 6 mph.

That is quite the wording for such precip amounts?

This initial setup blows.  Relying on convective blobs to materialize over this area is about as riveting as watching paint dry.  18z NAMs show like 1/10" to 1/4".

Yeah counting on a sporadic downpour to produce good rain totals is an exercise in futility.

We aren’t going to see much rain here, you can take that to the bank

he strong jet dynamics mentioned above will combined with Pwats on
the order of 2 inches. This is 3 to 4 standard deviations above
normal for this time of year. This recipe will result in a band of
heavy rain sweeping across the region overnight into mid morning
Wednesday. The heaviest rain should be across interior MA & CT in
vicinity of the surface low pressure system where the best low level
convergence exists. Rainfall amounts of 1 to 2 inches are
anticipated with localized amounts of 2.50 to 3 inches possible.
Across eastern MA/RI, bands heavy rain will be possible but being
further removed from the low level forcing amounts of 0.50 to 1 inch
are more reasonable. While some nuisance poor drainage street
flooding is possible, do not think amounts will rise to the level of
producing significant flooding. Therefore, no flood watch will be
issued with this package.
