Thanks Alex,  looks like the band setup just south of me a barely north of Brian.   I just look at snowstake in the yard.  If I had cleared there would have been more.

Up to 19"   +S  Vis up to 1/4".   Only 1.5" past hour

Looks very nice on your cams. Congrats! It was kinda sad when I drove through your area last week on my way home and it was bare. LOL

My son just went out and measured 6"

It is nice having an NWS employee live basically around the corner from me, their measurements always track well with mine.  A colleague of mine actually used live next door to them.  I guess they transferred to BTV from CAR.  Anyway, here is the PNS for Washington County

Event totals: 4.1” Snow/0.45” L.E.

The density of this morning’s snowfall was quite similar to what we picked up during the overnight period, but the few bouts of larger flakes we had seemed to drop it down just a bit.

Details from the 12:00 P.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 2.2 inches

New Liquid: 0.23 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 9.6

Snow Density: 10.5% H2O

Temperature: 19.4 F

Sky: Snow (1 to 3 mm flakes)

Snow at the stake: 4.0 inches

That’s interesting, it looks like they’re rounding most (but not all?) of the CoCoRaHS observations to the nearest half inch?

I reported 1.9” of accumulation at my 6:00 A.M. observations, so it’s funny to see 2.0” listed for this site.

Those totals in southern VT are unbelievable. I can't imagine seeing an additional 10-15 inches on top of what I got in the Pi Day storm when I was in Winooski (my first and only 30 inch event). I miss it terribly. I am likely to zero out down here in a La Nina year.

Looks at these massive totals here..ha.  Death by a thousand cuts.  10 "events" Adding up to 6.9".  Locally the SVT CO-OP at 1700' is at 8.9" and the Cocorahs guy at 1900' locally is at 12",  so all elevations not seeing a ton.  Just missed out on the OCT event and the coastal few days ago.

Calling it 6.0" on the nose here. I'm going to ignore the numbers to my south and be content with two 6" events in the books prior to Christmas

In all seriousness...what an incredible, historic event for central VT/NH. I can't imagine there have been many 36"+ events in the Lakes Region of NH. I know the March 2001 event has been discussed in the larger observation thread, but that moves too fast for me to keep up with!! Does anyone here know of any historical events that even remotely compare to today's event in the southern Lakes?

I think Dendrite said March 2001 was his biggest like you mentioned.  He said Oct 2011 also and said one other I cant remember.  AS Gene and Dendrite would tell you I don't think they have had many events over 16" in the recent past. I don't know about long term history though.  I would assume this is up there.

19.8 here which is actually my biggest in Vermont.  Biggest in our Norwich time had been 18.7 though that was only 6 days after an 18.2 storm.  Peacham we usually missed on the the heaviest- I don't remember anything over 16 in those years (09-16).  South Royalton (92-02) I don't remember anything reached 18 (even 3/93) but lots were in the 14- 17 range.

Pretty easy to clean up but both shear pins went on the blower at the bottom of the drive so I will have to do a polishing up over the weekend.

Event totals: 4.9” Snow/0.50” L.E.

I must have been up at the mountain when the storm finished up here, but the top half inch or so of accumulation from the most recent round of snow contained notably larger dendrites with a much more impressive ability to coruscate light compared to the small flakes from much of the storm.  The last vestiges of snowfall have definitely cleared out to partly cloudy skies, so I’d say the above totals are the final numbers here for Winter Storm Gail.  As the models have been showing, there really isn’t much lingering upslope on the back side of this system, probably due to the way it’s pulling quickly off to the east and not northward into the Maritimes.

Details from the 6:00 P.M. Waterbury observations:

New Snow: 0.8 inches

New Liquid: 0.05 inches

Snow/Water Ratio: 16.0

Snow Density: 6.3% H2O

Temperature: 11.7 F

Sky: Partly Cloudy

Snow at the stake: 5.0 inches

I think so too. You're really just up and over 302 through Orange from me. Have you ever seen any moose on that stretch? We've seen a couple near Riddel Pond.

I was going to say Riddle Pond. I’ve seen them towards Groton on 302 as well. Near the Butterfield parking lot.
