SnoJoe
Snowed all day today. I picked up a couple of inches, would have been more but rose above freezing for a couple of hours. Pretty day.
Buckethead
I have at least 2" even after some melting. Still coming down nicely. I'll take it. Oh, and I had a 10 point and 2 8 points greet me when I got home.Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
Tyler Penland
Perhaps it's me but Friday looks like a sneaky little storm system may bring additional snow to the Mountains as a strong cold front presses in. Gfs looks interesting. Euro less so but good NWFS on the backside.
Tyler Penland
Flurries currently in Zionville out on the TN line.
WSchew
Nice little map for yesterday’s event from GSP. Congrats guys! Here’s to hoping for a surprise down here in the piedmont.
WxKnurd
I’d say that’s an accurate map. Here on the Haywood/Jackson line we were probably around an inch total if you added it all up. Accumulating snow, it would melt and then another band would put down accumulating snow and so on.
FlatLander48
not sure who it was that said it, but the quote (may be off a bit) "if we don't score in this coming pattern, we suck" is ringing in my head. Very excited about how the next couple of weeks look.
Met1985
Well we have the freezing fog this morning! It's pretty neat. We are covered in this thick cloud and its 20 degrees. Also there is like this diamond dust thats falling here at the house. So we have a thick coating of ice fog on everything. Wish I could get a pic when the sun breaks but ill be asleep.
WxKnurd
It’s been foggy the past two nights here too, nice and icy this morning like you said Met.
Local Yokel Wx
Wx Twitter this morning has been fun to follow. Someone out of Canton inside the city limits posted this pic. @Met1985, this is likely the evergreen plant providing just enough moisture to create a heavy diamond dust or light snow event for this person's yard (Evan Fisher's theory and I think it sticks). Diamond dust was falling in downtown Asheville as well.

Met1985
Looks like we have multiple chances for some snow this weekend even down into the valleys.
Hvward
Some surprises wintry precip happening across MS, AL, & GA. Sitting here wondering if that sneaks into the SW mountains later tonight. Models have it drying up, but we know how that goes sometimes. Thinking someone might at least see a snow shower from it tonight.
Met1985
Looks like we are on tap for cold and snow in the mountains this weekend. Life is good.
Tyler Penland
The NAM has a crazy frontal passage with a band of heavy snow. Convective look to the precip on Saturday too. I saw thundersnow out of a frontal passage like that a few years ago. Last time I saw it too, actually.
Buckethead
Looks like we are on tap for cold and snow in the mountains this weekend. Life is good. Good, I got a buddy from Columbia coming up this weekend with his son to ski. Looks like a good weekend is coming hopefully. And I need some fresh snow to cover the ice. The snow from the past week is really hanging on up here, which has led to lots of ice of the eastern slopes. weatherlover
Probably off topic but does anyone know how many days the mountains (Beech) has had snowcover? I check the webcam up there a lot and it seems they have had snow on the ground for the last month.

I run instacart grocery up there a good bit and it has been a long time since I wasn't trudging through ice. We're liable to go 2 weeks at my house or more with the way the pattern looks. Still several inches from last Friday in the shady spots.
SnoJoe
A lot of my leftover snow melted today. It's time to freshen it up! Probably won't snow a whole lot this weekend but it's going to feel like winter.

But I'm almost 1k feet below the Beech summit so who knows way up there.

I like to start with a fresh, barren landscape and watch it transform into a winter oasis of fluff.

WxKnurd
Damp day so far, just had a sleet shower but that’s about it. Winter feel to air as opposed to sunny and 50’s yesterday over at Bear Creek Lake. Good afternoon to finally try out my new kayak.
weatherlover
Coming up to Boone/Blowing Rock area tomorrow with the kids to do some sledding! Does anyone have any ideas where a good place to take the kids sledding is that won’t be as crowded? Not a pay to sled place just a good hill somewhere for a 5 year old and 3 year old. Thanks for any info!
Buckethead
The sleet changed to light snow about 20 minutes after it began. Got a dusting so far on top of the layer of ice. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk

If you go either early or later in the day the Parkway Maintenance building where 221 and the Parkway meet outside blowing rock is a good place. Multiple hill options. It'll be crowded for most of the day, though.
