I love that view in the fall.

BlueRidgeFolklore
Looks like today and tomorrow could be the last days in the 80's for the majority of the mountains.

BlueRidgeFolklore
We're officially heading toward a La Nina winter. That's not a bad thing for the mountains (obviously El Nino didn't do anything for us last year) depending on it's strength. We've had some decent La Nina winters in the last decade.

La Nina can bring more NWFS but a less active southern stream and subtropical jet
Met1985
A lot of variability in the models but looks like we could see a substantial trough and cold push come through in about a week. We will see.

wncsnow
Ended up with 2.65. Don't think we will get much more tonight. I ended up with 2.9. I was thinking it may be a below average rainfall month but I'm right at average now
Sw NC weather
Sally looks to be bringing us a lot of heavy rain Thursday. Both the GFS, and Euro have 4” + for most of us.
Moonhowl
If we can get past Sally, I did like seeing this in the GSP forecast discussion: The payoff from this late week unpleasantness will be our first taste of fall over the weekend into early next week, when sprawling cool/dry high pressure is forecast to overspread the East. Forecast temps and dewpoints for Sat-Mon are more typical of mid-October than mid-September.

BlueRidgeFolklore
Gut feeling based on years past but I believe we're finally going to get a real fall this year.
Rainforrest
Boyer says 6-8 inches possibly more for the southern escarpment. Brevard to highlands. 1

wncsnow
We had another .45 today for a 3 day total of 3.35 and a monthly total of 4.3. Probably 3 to 5 more late this week. Another 10" month seems probable.

Buckethead
Nice, cool, damp day. There's a fall vibe in the air for sure. I see 30's in my forecast this weekend. We're inching closer to winter. Sent from my SM-G970U using Tapatalk
BlueRidgeFolklore
If this verifies and we can ride this pattern into mid-October, there's a good chance we could see our first flakes flying in the higher elevations in less than a month. I've seen it a few of times in my lifetime here.

I think that was 5-8 years ago. I took the kids up the mountain to go sledding. We had a blast. I then expected a rockin' winter, and it turned out to be very mild, unfortunately.

Met1985
The end of this weekend and into the first of next week the high elevations could see some frost. Highs in the 60s and lows in the 30s. A far cry from what we has last year.
