SnoJoe
Picking up here as well. Just had a gust to 34. We moved back from the coast last week only to come home to a tropical storm! That's 2020 for you.

Sw NC weather
wind was never to bad here I would say 30-35 mph gust but for rain we’re almost to 4” and it’s raining again.
Tyler Penland
Been completely calm here outside Boone for the last couple hours. Over 4" of rain though and still raining.
BooneWX
Wind was very bad in my neck of the woods. Can’t recall conditions that bad in a long time. Many trees down and the winds were strong enough for my neighbor to lose a shutter off the house. Easily gusted 60+ Many times....
Moonhowl
So far max at KAVL has been 33 mph.

wncsnow
We ended up with over 4 inches of rain. The Catawba reached its highest level of 2020 at 11.6 feet making it 10th place on all time crests since the gage was installed in the 80s.
Met1985
Today is going to be a shock to the system with as warm as it has been. Highs in the 40s and 50s. Tomorrow morning lows in the 20s and low 30s then we get an even bigger push of cold air Monday. I expect highs in the 30s and 40s with lowes in the 20s, maybe even some high elevation teens. Also with the cold air ushering in currently I cannot put it past anyone along the boarder to possibly see there first flakes of the season. The further north you are the better chance you could see something.
Moonhowl
Glad Zeta from where I am sitting was not remotely as bad as Ivan or Opal and despite the very active season the mountains in general have not had the horrible tropical season that was in 2004. Hopefully done with the tropics but not counting on it (something brewing out there now); looking forward to seeing some snow. Happy Halloween

strongwxnc
Power has been out since 8:30 yesterday. Lots of damage across the county here. Not sure on rain amounts. Most fell before the wind came in. Highest gust was 42.1 at my house . .

Opal was rough but the double shot of those two resulted in the worst damage I've seen with tropical leftovers. Frances flooded us and then Ivan blew the trees down just ten days later. The blowdown is still very evident across my property.
