Brian D
Frost and freeze warnings out for Tues and Wed mornings. Just like I thought in my fall forecast. Early Sept really getting on the cool side now.
Brian D
Currently in the mid-upper 50's around here. Heater kicked on this morning, but that's just par for the course. Believe it or not, I keep the thermostat on during the summer. It still kicks on in early June, and a couple times during the summer. Why? Because it keeps the cob webs from building up, and I know it will run when I need it. Just like a car that sits too long will have more problems when you run it again, than if you run it off and on. Hope folks are stocking up best they can, and practice fasting. Our forefathers had to go through stuff like this, what makes us better than them? The age of gluttony coming to an end? Hoosier
Today was the 85th consecutive day of highs of 70+ for Chicago. Not close to the record of 117 days. Tomorrow is a threat to break the streak.
cyclone77
And we're off. Widespread elevated convection quickly taking off across the IA/MO border region. Kind of interesting vis sat loop this afternoon/eve watching the clouds quickly develop and become widespread, and then convection popping up as the sun angle got low. Looks like the potential for another good soaking tonight.
IWXwx
Showers and storms have been firing and semi-training here all day. We haven't had a day like this all summer. Not a lot of accumulation locally, but some areas nearby have received a healthy dose. The boundary has been slowly floating south and it should drive back north, keeping the rain chances high overnight. It will be a nice night to sleep with the windows open and hear the rain falling and thunder rumbling.
michaelmantis
Wow. The radar along the IL/MO border blew up in the last 90 minutes! LOT calling for some heavy rain in Chicago, where is that supposed to be developing from? Change of seasons are just crazy. Denver’s 95 to Snow in 24 hours and the hottest temp ever recorded in the U.S. Insanity.
Gino27
1.52" with maybe more coming overnight. Went from a terrible dry spell to a tornado warning and numerous thunderstorms. Still a few inches in the hole but I will take anything at this point. Still a bit worries about what's going on north of me. Looks like 5+ inches in some spots and tons of flooding. IWXwx
Finished with 1.78" here. Areas just to my south had 2-4". Maybe not a drought buster, but it put a dent in it.
hawkeye_wx
1.23" here overnight. Over 2 inches fell in some locations.
OrdIowPitMsp
Hope everyone had a great Labor Day weekend. Spent time in Chicago seeing some family and got to experience the seasons change on the drive back. 72 in Milwaukee when I drove through, 61 in Madison an hour later and only 50 with rain when I got to Minneapolis. Pockets of maples starting to really show color. Got down to 45 here under a thick overcast last night. We have a real shot of hitting the upper 30s in the city tonight, and potential for widespread freezes across the northland.
weatherbo
Down to 36 overnight. First fire of the season in the stove this morning and with a forecast high of 49 today and tomorrow, can't help but think about the first snow that's likely just a few weeks away. OrdIowPitMsp
Today's high of 52 broke the old record low max of 54 set back in 1929. Record lows of 38F on the 9th and 37F on the 10th might be in play if things work out just right.
