I want to paste over this that mid-June streak of blue skies that lasted 6 days. They weren't severe but they produced the best lightning of the year by far. There were several supercell structures embedded on the south side of a big blob running along the frontal boundary, and they periodically blasted the rain free portion with huge CG bolts. I swear it's fall/winter that give the best storms here in IL. Snowstorms Posted September 11, 2020 Share Posted September 11, 2020 Persistent cloud cover over the past few days have kept highs in the 60s and lows in the mid 50's. Forecast low for last night was 46F, but due to extensive cloud cover we only got down to ~53F. Some places just north of here in cottage country were also expected to get down into the mid 30's but widespread cloud cover prevented that. Suicide weather with wall-to-wall overcast conditions and a high of only 69 today without rain. Ended up with another 0.99" since last evening, pushing the event total (starting last Sunday morning) up to 7.54". DVN is going to end up pretty close to 8". Pretty productive setup to be sure.
