Agreed. Wind is much more interesting IMO.

I'd rather be on the east side of this storm from a weather enthusiast point of view.

1) With tropical systems you should never really rule out flooding problems.  Small shifts or unmodeled mesoscale features can produce tremendous totals.

2) Flooding (river, flash, coastal) produces the most widespread damage (especially in NJ) and is the most frequent storm related threat.  River flooding in particular, caused by widespread excessive rainfall, produces catastrophic and sometimes long lasting effects.

* Special Marine Warning for...

  Sandy Hook NJ to Fire Island Inlet NY out 20 NM...
  Fire Island Inlet to Moriches Inlet NY out 20 NM...

  Long Island South Shore Bays...

* Until 200 PM EDT.

* At 104 PM EDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing
  waterspouts was located 24 nm east of Barnum Island, moving north
  at 55 knots.

  HAZARD...Waterspouts and wind gusts in excess of 50 knots.

  SOURCE...Radar indicated.

  IMPACT...Waterspouts can easily overturn boats and create locally
           hazardous seas. Boats could suffer significant structural
           damage in high winds. Small craft could capsize in
           suddenly higher waves.

* The severe thunderstorm will remain over mainly open waters.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 400 PM EDT for southeastern
New York.

Move to safe harbor until hazardous weather passes.
