Weather app keeps thinking it’s sunny when it’s been cloudy for about the last 5 hours!

It’s an ASOS limitation. The ceilometers at most locations only report up to 12000ft. This cloud deck is above that height so the ob is officially “CLR” which is really clear below 12kft. If the overcast layer is 15kft it gets missed. So the apps don’t have enough intelligence unless the developers really went wild and tried to determine clouds based on vis sat pixels.

Congrats SE MA

Quote

State officials said most regions were experiencing a classic long-term drought, but the Southeast part of the state, including Cape Cod and the Islands were experiencing conditions akin to a flash drought -- a rapid onset drought with decreased precipitation, above normal temperatures, and incoming radiation resulting in abnormally high evapotranspiration -- all combining to increase fire danger and decrease crop moisture levels.

Let's get a 2010-11 La Nina and we are all in business.

Not time yet for him to be optimistic. Just wait until October. You’ll see the changes....they start subtle and then get more obvious as the month goes on.

We should have some cool shots as the back gets broken. It will certainly be warm to humid at times, but the ridging in the Davis Straits and out west will try to bring in shots of cooler air. It does look like we may have another run at warmer weather again at the end of the month into early September.
