This will be the " Why not season like 89'

Its just nice to be watching a game on TV vs watching  news garbage lol.  I'm a baseball guy through and through.  I love the game.

I used to watch a lot of baseball during the Ripken years. Gradually lost interest, Always been more of an NFL fan, but even that I don't plan my Sundays around anymore.

They win 20 games. Over? Under?

No way they win 20. They might struggle to get to double digits lol. I'm going with 14-46. There best player from Last year isn't playing.

It feel like the days of Jones, Machado, Hardy, Schoop,  A (good) Chris Davis, Britton, Oday, Brach are so long, in the past.

Sad state of affairs in Os land. Its going to take awhile, and not sure there is any light at the end of the tunnel without a change in ownership.

The team that was out there tonight was totally foreign. Who are these clowns?

I mistakenly  left out Wieters and of course Buck.

I think in a way the organization "lucked" out with the competitive run they had from 2012 - 2016.

*** The Eric Bedard Trade that sent Adam Jones and Chris Tilman to Baltimore was one of the most lopsided in MLB history.

**** Trading  Koji Uehura to Texas for a MVP Caliber Chris Davis and Tommy Hunter was another huge deal.

**** Trading for a JJ Hardy in his prime solidified the core of the O's defense up the middle with Wieters,Hardy and Jonesy. Can't remember who they Traded for Hardy but I don't think it was anyone too great.

*** And of course getting Buck Showlater.

They were awful for 14 years prior to 2012 and have been awful since that era of Orioles ended.

Jumping in from Lancaster Pa as a 45 year fan and former season ticket holder for my beloved O's.

This is likely an historically bad team - I'm going 9-51. If my 76ers could manage just 9 wins in 82 games back in 1972 there's no reason why this team can't match it in 60 games.

The opening day starter was a mediocre relief pitcher. The worst opening day starter of all time?

Is there no one else on the farm? Our rotation must be complete garbage.

The best talent they have in the minors for starting pitchers are still a couple years away.

They would of been in Frederick and Bowie this is year

Just put Palmer out there to toss 60 mph curve balls.

Grayson Rodriquez , DL Hall, Zach Loewther,  Alex Wells, Keegan Aiken,  are all pitching prospects that could be good at the Major League Level in the next couple years. Won't see them this year. No reason to start the clock on their mahor league service time.

We should start the panic room thread early to jinx this winter into giving us snow.

All the climo models will look like garbage, all the indices will point to another craptastic winter, but we luck into a few decent events. We are due for some flukes.

I know people rip on Snyder (personally, I think it hasn't worked out there because fan does not equal great owner) but Peter Angelos ruined the Os.  The past few years has seemed to be a "don't give a crap" mode.

Well, good and bad, the success  of any organization usually reflect one at the top of the pecking order. Angelos has undeniably turned a once very proud into a laughingstock.

The O's have had several highly touted arms over the past couple of decades or so that never developed as hoped. (Hello Dylan Bundy) How many young players have suffered significant injuries in our farm system? Something doesn't seem right there either. It's part of the game, sure, but we do injuries better than anyone else. That's discouraging too. We've been hearing for years about the next great arm to anchor the rotation and we're still waiting.

I gladly drove 90 minutes each way to 33rd Street (20-30 times a season) when I was younger to support them but in recent years it's been a couple of trips a season...at most.

There was a time when you could proclaim to be an Orioles fan and feel a lot of pride in saying that. No more. It's a shame. It's humiliating to go to a home game when the visiting team's fans outnumber us 4-1.

Hanna is moving south southwest. Not much to see near Austin TX. 15 mph wind, chance of an inch of rain. Deep South Texas will have all the fun, tropical storm force wind gusts and 8 inches of rain.

Move along, move along, not much to see here.

But in the Corpus Christi region, different story:

Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Corpus Christi TX

.DISCUSSION...

See 12z TAF discussion below.

&&

.AVIATION...

Weather conditions will continue to deteriorate at area terminals
today due to Hanna`s approach and eventual landfall along the
mid/south TX coast. Will indicate tropical storm force winds at
CRP and ALI airports given the forecast track of Hanna to the
south of these areas. However, gusts to hurricane force are still
possible! Expect widespread showers and thunderstorms with heavy
rainfall to spread in from the coast which will reduce
visitibilities to IFR conditions. Expect heavy rain to continue
along the coast through the night with improving conditions across
the northeast Coastal Bend Tonight.

.PREV DISCUSSION... /Issued 611 AM CDT Sat Jul 25 2020/

SHORT TERM (Today and Tonight)...

Tropical Storm Hanna continues to approach the CRP MSA early this
morning. Convection on the west and north sides have increased quite
a bit overnight. Satellite representation has also been very
impressive overnight with bubbling convection around the center of
circulation. Hurricane models (HWRF and HMON specifically) continue
to be very aggressive with intensifying the system as it moves
toward the coast this morning. These two models are significantly
higher than all other guidance out there. Track guidance has become
fairly well in agreement with variations of only about a county.
Current forecast cone indicates landfall potential between Corpus
Christi and Port Mansfield with timing generally expected this
afternoon.

Rainfall continues to be a major concern across much of South Texas.
Southeastern areas near where the storm moves inland are expected to
see 5 to 10 inches. With increasing convection to the north of the
storm center, we will still see 3 to 5 inches over the northern
Coastal Bend and 2 to 4 inches as you go north and west.

Moderate coastal flooding is expected across the Middle Texas coast
as the storm moves in with Storm Surge warnings in place.

Once the storm moves inland it will gradually dissipate but at least
Tropical storm force winds will likely reach well inland before it
weakens to a depression Sunday.

LONG TERM...

The same high pressure ridge that is Steering Hanna into South and
Deep South Texas will continue to steer moisture and unsettled
weather into South Texas through early in the week. High end chance
PoPs continue through Wednesday before decreasing late week as the
ridge shifts eastward and mid-level troughing deepens through the
central part of the country.

Temperatures through the first part of the period will be below
normal due to TS Hanna, and the increased moisture...then warm back
to near normal by late in the week.

MARINE...

Convection on the western side of TS Hanna has increase
through the Middle Texas Coastal waters overnight as the storm
approaches the CRP MSA. Hanna will progress west or west
southwestward through the area this morning with a landfall expected
this afternoon. Tropical storm to hurricane force winds are expected
throughout the area with very high seas. Wave heights at the 19 buoy
north of the area have already surpassed 20 feet this morning.
Expect wave heights of 15 to 20 feet area wide today. Torrential
downpours will occur, especially in rain bands and eventually any
potential eyewall of the storm.

Rain chances continue through the middle of the week as unsettled
weather persists. Winds will decrease to moderate levels by Monday
and persist at light to moderate levels through the end of the
period. Rain chances decrease late in the week.

No beer for me tonight. Already gotten drunk for the past two nights in a row, I don't think I can handle a third night. Felt like sh*t this morning.

I rarely if ever get drunk anymore. Don't like the feeling, and hangovers suck. I just have my Happy Hour everyday. More enjoyable.

Yeah I sometimes get to the point where I can't enjoy it anymore because I've had too much. Becomes a hassle to walk around, talk, and your stomach gets pretty upset depending on what you ate
