SHORT WAVE COMBINED WITH FRONTAL BOUNDARY AND HIGH CAPES SUGGEST POTENTIAL FOR EXPLOSIVE DEVELOPMENT OF THUNDERSTORMS IF CAP BREAKS. IF THIS SCENARIO PANS OUT THEN A DESTRUCTIVE DERECHO WITH WINDS OVER 100 MPH IS CERTAINLY POSSIBLE. CORFIDI VECTORS WOULD TAKE THE THUNDERSTORMS SOUTHEAST ACROSS MUCH OF THE DVN CWA. One of the classics.
cyclone77
Storms this morning got close enough you could hear the thunder. Could have used a little more rain.

michsnowfreak
It's funny because while it's been so Sunny and dry for the most part in July, these few torrential downpours have already added up to 5.42". July 07- 0.55" July 08- 0.12" July 10- 2.62" July 16- 1.04" July 19- 1.09"
cyclone77
Hottest temp this summer so far at MLI is only 94. Pretty lame if that ends up being the hottest of the summer, but there is more heat coming this weekend. They've had lots of upper 80s this summer, so there has been lots of lost opportunity in accumulating AOA 90 degree days as well. All in all a forgettable summer to be sure in terms of heat for this area if we don't have a big rally later this month/August.
Chinook
My parents near Toledo had at least a 40 or 50 mph wind knock over a patio table/umbrella with a thunderstorm yesterday. Toledo Express Airport got 1.11" yesterday, and this makes 2.58" for this month. That thunderstorm popped up in advance of the MCS area, and dropped 1"-1.5" in the Toledo area., south of downtown. KTOL is probably one of the only airports in Ohio with above normal preciptation this month. More than 90% of Ohio is below average precipitation for this month. The area is also 5.5 degrees F above average for this month. Perhaps it will be a top-5 warmest July.
Chicago Storm
July is running at 79.7° for Chicago, which is 5.8° above average. If the month ended today, it would be the 4th warmest July on record. .
purduewx80
Current surface water temps on southern parts of LM: Goes to show you how easy it is to wipe out shallow warmth, especially when deeper parts of the lake have temps in the low 40s.

UMB WX
Week before the 4th was so stupid.. easterly winds on end and we still baked. Westerly wind is the best for fishing this side off the pond. Always nice to get a string of westerly winds to mix it up and flush the warm surface temps out. Won't be long and winter weenie thoughts will soon turn to getting some crisp early fall air in to start the cool down process of the lake. Let's freeze that pond over this winter - after we score 60" of snow before, Jan 10th 2021. 2 3

The positive side of things, looks to be a chamber of commerce week, highest we go through Friday may be low 80s, and a decent breeze each day. weatherbo
Cool weather today, highs only in the mid-50's... upper 40's past 2 nights have felt nice. A preview of things to come. Warmth returns this weekend. It's been the warmest summer I've experienced up here. Highs have routinely been in the 80's. 5.10" of rain for the month so far. Severe storms moved through overnight last Saturday waking me up. Wind was pretty nuts.

Torchageddon
Severe storms were hyped for days here in ON for Weds but as far as I know nothing happened in SON at all, even EC didn't nibble and send any warnings or watches out (they issue severe thunderstorm warnings for heavy rain showers that have already passed through).
bowtie`
Thanks for Illinois not hogging all the rain this time. Two day total in my backyard is 2.61 in the tippy bucket and a tad over 2.00 in the flower bed gauge. That flower bed gauge always seems to read low.
