All day westerly flow heat events have been few and far between on LI since the super El Niño in 2015-2016.We would get one after another from 2010-2013. Onshore flow and record dew points have become the new normal.

Santa Claus
93/71 with a breeze doesn't feel all that bad. can't tell if i am adjusting to our new climate norms or my brain is just hopeful that heat stroke will bring it sweet release from the endless horrorshow that is 2020. the important thing is i got fresh cold peaches and plums in the fridge so there's still something to look forward to. winterwx21
95 with a dewpoint of 67 here. Very hot, but doesn't feel horrible with the humidity not terribly high. I see some models are now showing storms for thursday. That's a change, but I know it's hard to predict convection days in this type of pattern. Cfa
The sea breeze seems to have an immediate affect on the dew point while the temp responds a bit slower resulting in very high heat indices.

Cfa
Do they monitor hourly obs for quality control purposes? Because I don’t see any other reason why 5 or 10 minute updates can’t be the norm. I know planes aren’t relying on data that’s 50+ minutes old.

lee59
Because I am not getting a strong southerly flow, my high of 94 could be taken out. Just a lessoning of the sw breeze could get my current 93.2 right back to near the high of 94.
