since its going to be lousy by May standards I'd like to see some record cold or snow...record lows are near 35 and a wet flake would tie a record...out here in Staten Island its 10 degrees colder on a windless night than Central Park...pretty close to the same if its windy...I might see temps close to freezing imby before it gets to normal again...

I've seen 15° differences on a couple occasions.

I hope someone is awake in Central park if wet snow flakes mix in overnight...it would go unreported...they already missed the little snow that fell in late April...

ABC mentioned that a Trace of snow was reported in NYC on 5/29/95.  What was the temp during it and why is it not remembered better?  Late at night I presume?  It was supposedly the latest snow at NYC.  Was that JFK's latest too? I know their latest measurable was 1.5" on 4/19/83.

That was hail reported as snow. I think @uncle W or @donsutherland1posted the report was never corrected in the official observation.

Who reported that? The local ch. 7 eyewitness news station?

I clearly remember that day, our roof took damage from hail in Nassau at like 11pm and that was also the day I believe the Pacers upset the Knicks in game 7 at MSG

That’s an error. That day, there was hail. The temperature range was 80-58.

Yikes!      Only the GEM has no measurable Snow Sat. AM.       Don't know about the UK Met.

GFS has 1" to 3".     This will have to fall heavily and will be real wet stuff as the 0C reaches only down to the 950mb. Level, briefly.        May actually be lower than this next Tues., AM.

Could we go from the earliest last measurable snowfall Jan. 18, to the latest in the City?

I have noticed that small hail gets entered as a trace of snow in the NWS system. We saw this with the thunderstorms back on April 23rd. It must stay in the report if it doesn’t get edited out later on

I've seen old climate reports that had a trace of snow in all the summer months...it was all hail...

I remember reading that there was car damage from a hail storm on the south shore sometime during the 90s- I forgot what year.

Yeah, Lee Goldberg of all people lol.

So, I'm thinking the latest we had any amt of snow was May 9th, 1977?

Is this storm similar to that?

Ok thanks...Yeah right of all people. Typical lazy journalism...You asked the temps that day, and I checked but some can't be bothered.
