I go by data.  You go by feelings.

LOL

The data very clearly says kids don't die from COVID-19 or really even become seriously ill. Flu is way deadlier for them.

But yeah, data from the communist dictatorships in China and Vietnam is a better source. Yup, zero deaths in Vietnam.

If the data doesn't fit your argument, question its source.  Classic tactic.

Data from Vietnam that there are zero deaths actually perfectly fits my narrative that this disease is not as bad as we think... but I can clearly see their data is total BS.

Vietnam is a poor country that would not have been able to hold deaths at zero. That doesn't make any sense at all.

In the huge span of this global disease, kids don't die from COVID-19 AT ALL. Yes, there are reports of a tiny, tiny handful of deaths in kids with a positive COVID test. I know you are a super pedantic and specific person and to you this means "kids die from this virus too!" Most others here know exactly what I meant.

Way to move goal posts from "young people" (which I'd take to imply anyone under about 30) to "kids" (which would imply minors only). And also just state things out of hand as fact while accusing others of being pedantic. Whatever. I don't think anyone argues who is more at risk and what age groups. But even younger people, it may not be so negligible a number as thought. And it's still higher than "just the flu". Plenty of younger people have other health or immune issues that can make them more at risk.

Young people being under 20. They don't die from COVID-19 at all (yes there are outliers like in any natural system). Flu is way deadlier. I have no idea why the myth of young people dying from this disease is still so prevalent. I guess because otherwise the death narrative starts to fall apart.

The CDC believes their data.  If an armchair epidemiologist on a weather discussion forum doesn't want to believe it, that's their prerogative.

Where do you get that the CDC "believed them"?

Also, the WHO at one time "believed" China that human-to-human transmission was impossible and about a week ago appeared to "believe" that there was no evidence that catching COVID-19 and recovering conveys immunity, but OK.

And where is your source for "And it's still higher than "just the flu" " for people under 20? I haven't seen that at all.

Come on, this goes way beyond that. You work in a sector that is not as affected by the shutdowns (and may be doing better because of them). Most are not so lucky.

I don't disagree I've been very fortunate in that regard. I don't think it would change my thoughts on the best course of action to get out of this though. I am as equally sympathetic with those that are suffering economically as I am with the families that have lost loved ones. I don't think there's a right answer on this but here we are. What's the best way back that limits death and allows businesses to actually have a fighting chance to come back successfully. I'm ok that you and I disagree on this it's life and this is a tough time for a lot of people. I hope it snows soon.

No disagreement here. We will all have a different view of this complex cost/benefit analysis. There is no easy answer.

That's not only profoundly wrong, it's ignorant on multiple levels.  You've obviously never lived outside the US or traveled much internationally as well.

Our UPS and FedEx drivers both haven’t worn masks since day one. Most I see on the streets don’t either.. I haven’t asked why but hard to believe either company has not made them readily available.

Fedex has but they are just little bs mask. Cheapest possible of course. We wear them in the facility but once we're on the road we don't need them. I put mine on only when inside buildings. I tell people to stay away from me when I'm in residential neighborhoods.

I can only imagine the self-righteous anger that will bubble forth from the #StayAtHome crowd when we see that the states that opened early are fine. It's going to take a long time for people to heal mentally. Brace yourselves for it, guys.

This is largely a dynamic that exists in your head and is the part of your schtick that gets tiresome.  Everyone is rooting for covid to go away.  If Georgia does great, I’ll be very encouraged.

Some people are actively rooting for the “red states” opening early to have massive outbreaks. They are predicting it with gusto, in fact.

Well, today was the first weekend of loosened restrictions in 30+ states.  I was told to expect lines out the door of people who, after a month of being oppressed by their tyrannical government, finally exercising their right to get a massage.  Instead, I see lots of people just sitting at the beach.  My 401k does not approve of this.

The 401k thing is a red herring. Most people are worried about paying bills and buying food.

Yeah, maybe some totally unrepresentative sample of jackasses on Twitter, but no one in this forum, so why do you have to constantly beat that drum?  Are you one of those culture warriors who had a fit of rage and hysterics when the Indian was taken off the butter box?  It seems like you really like this stuff.
