This is the time of year where the peak heat of summer is still lingering, with the monsoon moisture in play too. Yesterday it was 116/52 at 4pm. That’s a pretty high dew point, given the temperature. At 1am this morning, it was 101/63, and the low temp this morning was 93. The forward speed has increased to 40 mph, and that rapid forward speed is a key factor in getting more impactful storms in the mid Atlantic/northeast. On Thursday we started hiking around 2:30 am to make it up to Algonquin for a sunrise hike. Absolutely the most incredible sunrise I've ever seen. Perfect conditions up there. Someone should do a graduate research project detailing what exactly happened to the southern most portion of Kitchener. Areas 30 miles north and 30 miles south have gotten hammered this summer. But nothing here. There is an incredible amount of new construction happening here. So the air is really dry and dusty. Maybe all the moisture is just getting sucked up? Really grasping at straws.
