ict1523
Kind of surprised, the winds here in northern Manhattan are not that impressive. A few gusts probably up to 40mph, but even they aren't consistent. There are moments where it is completely calm.

Allsnow
Looks like the worst of the wind is staying to the southeast of the metro and hugging the coast. Wind has not been very impressive here. 1

If you're facing a solid row of buildings it could seem bad, until you go around the corner and its howling. SI, Qns, and Bx mesonets are all 50+ mph today so far. As for offical readings, Central Park is usually bad for winds, some directions worse than others.

Allsnow
Need to watch the line out in central Pa but the inversion won out today. The upper atmosphere is too moist so the big winds are not mixing down. If we had drier upper levels they would be mixing down. None of those soundings posted the pass few days had dry upper levels

The gravity wave that swept through my area about 9:30am this morning took care of that. Wind gusted to 46 mph at that time. Many observations of winds along the south shore of LI from 40 - 65 mph today.

Seriously, give it a rest. How about you show max gusts from areas further north?

Cfa
Winds aren’t letting up anymore like they were earlier, it’s more constant, feeling a bit Sandy-ish, obviously not the height of Sandy which was on another level, but how it felt in the hours prior.
