MAG5035
Tornado warning just issued coming into western PA from Ohio, portions of northern Washington and western Allegheny Counties. You SW PA folks got quite the severe setup, at least on paper (Mesoanalysis). Surface CAPEs over 1500 and Mixed Layer capes near 1000 coupled with modest helicity and pretty good shear/lift are putting out EHI values and lighting up the tornado parameter products. I'd be very watchful of that line of storms as it presses into SW PA and also some potential discrete storms esp south of the city. Of more immediate attention, the hook echo portion of the tornado warned storm looks to be taking aim at the southern suburbs of Pittsburgh eventually (Bethel Park, Mount Lebanon, etc). The north side of this cell likely has significant hail in it as well. Velocity isn't showing a concise couplet but the pronounced hook echo is definitely indicating rotation in this storm. Mailman
Mesoscale Discussion 0253 NWS Storm Prediction Center Norman OK 0303 PM CDT Sat Mar 28 2020 Areas affected...Parts of central Indiana and Ohio into southwestern Pennsylvania Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 67... Valid 282003Z - 282130Z The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 67 continues. SUMMARY...Widely scattered strong to severe thunderstorm activity may persist near/north of the Interstate 70 corridor another couple of hours, before diminishing by 6-8 PM EDT. DISCUSSION...Frontolysis appears underway, from west to east, along the Interstate 70 corridor, with the primary surface frontal zone redeveloping northward into southern portions of the Great Lakes region through early evening. However, scattered vigorous thunderstorm development persists, probably aided by inflow of unstable boundary layer air characterized by CAPE in excess of 1000 J/kg. Given the increasingly widespread nature to the convection, and general stabilization of the surrounding boundary layer due to rain cooling and decreasing insolation, convective intensities seem likely to trend downward through 6-8 PM EDT. However, until then, widely scattered strong storms, perhaps including a small evolving cluster approaching northern portions of the Indianapolis metro area, may continue to pose a risk for severe hail and locally strong surface gusts. ..Kerr.. 03/28/2020

Rd9108
Looks like the city avoided the brunt of this first wave. That's fine with me I'm at work and would rather not have to chase wires down and sit there waiting for Duquesne Light.

Normally I'm all about the severe weather, usually being disappointed with the weak sauce we tend to get. But considering everything going on, I agree with not having to deal with any extra problems. It’s a relief from all that is going on. some more rumbles of thunder now. Looks like we avoided the worst here in Shaler. Lots of hail in stubenville. jwilson
We got a very brief and minor bout of hail yesterday with that "supercell," but it seemed the actual hail core went south of us, closer to Canonsburg. Our hail was minuscule in comparison (pea size at the most).
