CheeselandSkies
Wow, really did not expect anything this close to the state line with the way instability was held down all day. Storm is tracking just a little northwest of the path of the April 2015 EF4. Some good rumbles here a few minutes ago, too.

CheeselandSkies
A small glimpse of what might have happened in IL today. Evidently that Oregon-Davis Jct. storm found a brief window of the right balance of ingredients. I would like to thank the atmosphere for making today an easy no-go for me even with a Day 2 moderate risk so close to home.

CheeselandSkies
As usual, the IL/WI stateline acts as a brick wall for tornadic storms. It happens in June, so a March setup with underperforming thermos didn't stand a chance.

As much as this system was a "dud" so to speak it certainly was a distraction from whats been going on, especially since the next couple weeks are looking dismal weather wise in our forum and health wise worldwide. The big tornado in AR, I can't imagine with the stress of the last couple weeks and to have that on top of it, no way. I really hope as we move further into severe season it stays dull as hell until we get a grip on this virus thing. The weather nerd in me is screaming no but I can't imagine the stress of losing life and property on top of what's going on. Hope we have a mellow severe season through June as much as that pains me to say. Cheers
SchaumburgStormer
Certainly not often you can say “good thing we were isolated at home due to a virus”, but it is sounding like that is the case in Jonesboro. Reports and aerial photos are showing heavy damage to the mall and business district, an area reportedly nearly empty due to virus precautions. Certainly numerous injuries and fatalities avoided. You would certainly normally consider a mall taking a direct hit at 5-6pm on a Saturday a worst case scenario.
