Not even a comparison IMHO. https://www.google.com/amp/s/nypost.com/2021/07/05/fears-arise-that-lambda-covid-variant-may-be-resistant-to-vaccines/amp/
wolfie09
Vaccination scam in India defrauds 2,500 Fourteen people have been arrested in Mumbai, India, in connection with a scheme to administer fake COVID-19 vaccines to thousands of people, who actually got injected with salt water. Authorities said health care professionals, including doctors, participated in the extensive scam at no less than a dozen bogus vaccination sites. About 2,500 people appeared have been defrauded in a hoax that netted the perpetrators $28,000. India is still bouncing back from a massive spring surge that sickened millions, claimed thousands of lives, and led to a shortage of hospital beds and oxygen. The country's government launched a mass vaccination drive with free shots, but less than 5% of the population has been fully inoculated.

BuffaloWeather
So whats everyone think about this delta strain? More/less deadly, more/less contagious? Looks like Australia went into another super strict lockdown where the leader there said not to talk to your friends/family. Zero case strategy. (LOL) International travel is still too risky for me. Unless I got laid off/fired I wouldn't be able to risk a 2 week quarantine if I somehow got covid. I told the wife if that does happen I'm traveling the world for the next year. As far as we know Delta is not a "problem" for the vaxxed or those that have actually had C19 and have developed natural immunity. It does seem to be more contagious but jury is out on more deadly. There's no clear data that vaxxed people would transmit it even if they contract the virus as they remain largely asymptomatic with lower viral loads. Cases are up but it's among the unvaxxed. At this point, I'd suggest that people either get vaxxed or stay home. For those feeling vulnerable, for reasons real, or imagined, they can stay home and/or practice distancing. Not a fan of the vaxxed being required to mask up again and/or reimposition of mandatory business restrictions. I'm looking at Overseas (europe) travel in Sept but haven't pulled trigger yet out of fear of a rug pull in terms of entry requirements etc. Seems to be a fluid landscape. And, I seem to recall CDC data that indicated the worst C19 outcomes (hospitalizations, death) are vastly skewed to obese people and those that have certain health conditions, while healthy and/or younger people have much less trouble with it. Not unlike flu susceptibility really. The US media paints a distorted picture of reality on this, for the usual reasons. Even the NYT's Covid reporter called the media out on this a while back.
wolfie09
What about this? I thought children were safe from COVID-19? .. Children can't get vaccinated yet . A day prior to Mississippi’s state health officer announcing that 7 of the state’s children are in intensive care with COVID-19, Dr. Thomas Dobbs pointed out that almost all current cases of the coronavirus in Mississippi are the Delta variant. Dobbs said in a Tuesday morning tweet that among those 7 children were in ICU, with 2 on life support with ventilators. This comes after he warned Monday that the Delta variant is becoming an increasing problem in Mississippi.

Yeah, there's not a vax for children yet, which does give one pause, although how many children live in MS? Statistically, these cases seem like bugdust at this point. That state also has a quite low vax rate among its adult pop as i recall. For a few reasons...

It would be interesting to see how many kids were infected vs hospitalized...likely a large difference. Probably statistically insignificant. I agree, lots of Bills players are pretty anti vax and vocal about it. Allen/Poyer. would suck to have this be the detriment of the year. Would be a pretty Bills thing to happen though.
vortmax
From a private company's perspective, I could see why the NFL is 'forcing' the issue. Lost revenue is a bit of an issue.

Wife’s friend went to Disney for 4th of July week. 2 days after getting home they all got sick (2 adults 2 young kids) ended up just being mild cold symptoms but all 4 of them tested positive, and both adults were vaxxed back in April/May. I think another spike is likely to happen in the coming months but from what you hear those that got their vax will only get minor symptoms if any. Might sound cruel but at this point those that wanted a vax got one, let’s just let this run it’s course and be done.

sferic
Hey guys, This summer I am relocating to a suburb of Syracuse. I will land in either, Manlius, Clay, Cicero or Brewerton Which area would I do better on the most snow or is it relatively the same? Is there any appreciable difference in LES in any given winter between Manlius and let's say Brewerton? Thanks !

Brewerton sees slightly more than the rest due to a slightly more north latitude. Clay and Cicero are about the same. Manlius probably sees the least Lake Effect Snow. However, it's closer to the higher elevations, so that might help a bit with synoptic snowfall and snow retention. All of them are suburban sprawl towns. I personally would choose Brewerton or Manlius...Brewerton for better lake effect potential and open land....Manlius for the rolling hills and proximity to Cazenovia. Cicero and Clay, to me, are flat and monotonous with development after development and very little natural ecosystems (other than some nice wetlands on the eastern side.) But if you want to be super close to Big Box stores and chain restaurants, you can't go wrong with them.

Ideally I'd live in Redfield if they had the big box stores , Dunkin Donuts and a mall Leaning towards Brewerton, north of there, like central square or Mallory, you are further north yes, but lose natural gas for your house and have to depend on propane. I hear alot about Cazenovia, what is special there? Again, thank you!

Pulaski and Camden, both about 25 minutes from there, are charming towns with "some" business. Otherwise, you drive 45 minutes to an hour to Rome, Watertown, or Syracuse to do your business. I was going to suggest Central Square to you, as it's close enough to Syracuse and does better snow-wise. It too, is growing...I like Oswego County. You can get more for a house there than you do in Onondaga. But, selection is less there, and there is definitely some poverty. Cazenovia is a great village. Beautiful area and homes. It's at a higher elevation. It has high wealth, so it's expensive to live there. I find Madison County to have BEAUTIFUL countryside.
