I have friends that live and work in Libera that went through the 2016 Ebola outbreak. It was scary stuff and nothing we'd ever want to deal with here. Thankfully, filoviruses like that aren't super-contagious and likely never will be - unless we're dumb enough to genetically engineer one.

Did you see Covid wasn't found in any genome sequence of animals, the first to ever have that happen? Makes me think it really was from a lab.

ALL Americans (and citizens of the world), despite political affiliation, should want to know the origins of this for the simple purpose of avoiding it in the future. It's beyond logic (and stupidity) that politics is even wrapped up in this mutually beneficial answer.

A friend is on a "Covid Task force" for his employer and community. They have been studying trends with how upticks in Covid have occurred across the world. They've been using England as a focal point. Information he passed along is that we are a few weeks behind England. They had an uptick several weeks ago like the one we're currently having, and then it drastically dropped off. His group thinks the same thing will happen here in the U.S.

As mentioned by others, the different variants may be more contagious, but they're weaker than the original.

Agreed, this variant is scaring everyone, but will be toast like the rest. My hope is that once we get past the massive mutation-friendly events like in India, Covid will not have any major opportunities to mutate into something more contagious AND deadly. We will get there between the vaxxes and general immune system immunities.

Based on my recent post, here is some interesting information. The graph shows how it began dropping towards the end of July...and then the article I shared discusses how they're "baffled by the surprise drop" in reported infected.

Um, that's not baffling to me. It's a good sign and shows that people are building immunities. This will be a cycle of ups and downs over the months to come...but as humans are exposed, Covid's impact will be minimalized...unless the politicians and media continue to draw it out. Which, is the time period we are in now, where they're grasping at straws.

I think we see what happened last year. One final winter wave Nov-Feb before this fizzles out. We saw a summer wave last year in the southern states just like last year. It then dissipated and came back stronger in the winter.

I don't watch the news so COVID-19 is non existent in this household lol Thanks for the info..

We don't watch it either. If I'm interested or curious, I research it for myself...and check multiple sources! I like to peruse through things, and then try to find the ACTUAL truth and facts.

Do you have to wear masks in schools even if vaccinated?

We're still waiting to get that information. As of my boss's most recent all-staff message, officials are still determining those things and we are not required to wear masks. However, it is recommended.

I know in Disney they have to wear a mask, via my sis-in law who lives right there..

Old lady got an alert that the town of Richland which encompasses pulaski now requires vaccination cards or mask to enter court buildings..Not sure if this includes all state and federal buildings..

I find it disturbing that New York City is requiring proof of vaccination soon to enter buildings and that the mayor is doing this as a tactic to force citizens to be vaccinated.

As I've said before, the vaccination hasn't even been APPROVED yet! These back-handed ways and tactics of our current administration to take freedoms away are maddening. "Hand me your papers!"

I am absolutely disgusted with the manipulation and using of Covid to enhance political propaganda.

So much CRAP being thrown around, you don't know what to believe anymore...other than when things are being forced and driven over and over and over again...it makes one take pause and try and figure out what is actually going on.

First"legal" recreational dispensary opened up in northern NY (massina area) on an Indian reservation.. Buddy of mine went the other day so I Know it's legit although some say they are doing it illegally, especially considering no regulations set forth..(or sales tax lol)

Yeah but remember last year.  We were saying the same thing.  Final surge, vaccine will rollout in spring, and it dies out over the summer.  Instead we are seeing wave 3 again.  It’s just going to keep going and going at this rate.  Already jumping right into the next super variant that should hit right at holiday time.

The vaccine or no entry is unfair.  Stop with the forced aspect of the vaccine.  We need to mask again… ok whatever fine I get it and I’ll do it, but leave the forced vaccine off the table.  I got my first two jabs, I’m a little more than reluctant to get any boosters.

Thinking...Who cares?  99.8% survival rate for the unvaxxed with the original C19. XYZ variants are/were inevitable and have all proved to be no more lethal, though more contagious. Its nigh time to pack away the people who are afraid of the common cold, mild flu, or their own shadows, from having any influence in decisions. They can all stay in masks and bunkers forever. Thats their right.  The rest of the sane world needs to move on.

Not attackng you...but "Thought to be..." by who exactly, and with what data?  This is a prime example of the Fear Porn pushed by the media and Public Health dolts.  Utter rubbish.

I'm really worried about the kids. They are sitting ducks right now:(

What? The survival rate, even being unvaxxed, is near 100% for <12 ( it's 99.8% for the general population for crying out loud).  This is actual data.  The % of <20 y.o.'s unvaxxed even going to hospital is literally round-off error statistically.  The people dying or going to hospital are nearly all significantly overweight and/or in poor health.  This is the same demo that ends up with bad outcomes from seasonal flu. This is not even Spanish/1918 Flu... WTF?

This is absurd Fear Porn. WTF. Show a child in ICU to shame mask wearing?  F*** these people (not the child obv).  We have no idea of the backstory here. And no, the entire planet shouldn't have to play covid theatre to prevent one child from being in ICU. Sorry.  There are what, 7.9 BILLION people on the planet as of 2021.  This could be extrapolated to godam near anything.  This shit needs to stop.

I dont think any more proof is needed that the vaccine doesnt prevent infection from delta variant. Cant really find info on whether it lessened severity though. Gibraltar was 99% vaccinated and just had to lock down again.

That's why we need to stop keeping track of cases and only hospitalizations/deaths.

It's widely accepted fact that nearly 95 percent (or even higher) of current hospitalizations are unvaccinated.  I have enough friends working in the hospitals to confirm this first hand with them.  The vaccine absolutely lessens severity to a very significant degree.  How do you even question that at this point? There is a mountain of data to back it up, but I'm going to assume you don't trust the CDC so I'll save my breath.

And to Syrmax, since when did this become completely about deaths.  I have virtually no fear of dying from covid, but I know more than enough long haulers to know that the risk of covid runs much deeper than just dying.  This thing ****s with the heart, nerves, brain, lungs, sense of taste and smell.  It's pretty alarming.  I don't understand people who want to just pretend this isnt a scary new virus.  I fully think it was produced in a lab which makes it even more concerning.

You guys are being ridiculous.

Thank you. People are just being stubbornly stupid. Also the delta variant affects kids far more than the original virus
