Lighten up?

Your posts come across quite confrontational. This causes people to be on the defense. (Ahem, the first time you came after me because you thought you knew everything about my teaching job.)

Because somebody's not a flaming liberal, they're equivalent to Hannity?

Some of you libs on here need to relax a bit...it's allllll doom and gloom. For example, Australia is doing great. Does that mean things won't get worse there? No. However, there is a difference between planning wisely...and going into a panic. Australia's winters are MUCH warmer than in the northern half of North America. But, because they're going into "winter" it means cases ARE going to rise.............................????? Is the DNC paying you guys to post these things?

George Bush said many years ago that we weren't prepared for a pandemic. Democratic and Republican presidents later, we're still not prepared. Failure on all sides. Stop trying to blame everything on one party.

How about stop lashing out and belittling people just because they don't see something politically the way you do.

I hear you and I'm sorry I came across that way to you.

I can assure you I'm no liberal.

There's only one picture in my office at work that isn't of my family.  It's Ronald Reagan.

I'd describe myself as a never-Trump conservative.

Unsubstantiated attacks from both side of the political aisle deserve to be scrutinized, no matter which side you are standing on yourself.

Thank you for your candid and humble response. I was a bit anxious about my comment to you because of its bluntness.

I appreciate it.

I'm assuming this is because of the increased testing and validation? It's not like 8 times more people are suddenly being infected...or is it ONLY due to reopening? ---> 3000 deaths/day & forecast about 200,000 new cases each day by the end of the month, up from about 25,000 cases now.

Cuomo is not extending May 15th order.

This actually really surprises me. But, there are some pretty strict guidelines:

  1. Based on guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control, regions must have at least 14 days of decline in the total hospitalizations and deaths on a 3-day rolling average.
  2. In regions with few COVID cases, cannon exceed 15 new total cases for 5 new deaths on a 3-day rolling average.
  3. In order to monitor the potential spread of infection in a region, a region must have fewer than two new COVID patients admitted per 100,000 residents per day.
  4. Regions must have at least 30% total hospital and ICU bets available.
  5. Hospitals must have at least 90 days of PPE stockpiled.
  6. According to Dr. Birx, 30 tests must be available for every 1,000 residents per month.
  7. Regions must have a baseline of 30 contact tracers for every 100,000 residents and additional tracers based on the projected number of cases in the region.
  8. Open businesses in phases.
  9. Businesses must have new safety precautions.
  10. Regional control rooms to monitor the rate of infection
  11. Stores must have at least 50% of their toilet paper aisle stocked.

I made a slight change and added one at the end... :P

Depends where. He didn't say anything yet about it. He wants to see where everyone is by next week.

He gave some hints. Per Rochesterfirst.com,

"According to the governor’s office, the Rochester and Finger Lakes region is considered a “low risk region.”"

I think both. The infection rate will go up because of reopening. And we’ve expanded testing to better track the increased rate.

How can the Trump administration be "privately projecting" when it is now public? A leak...or just trying to pinpoint things before causing a huge panic?

It's the manipulation of specific news with these subtle adjectives and adverbs to provoke a certain mentality that irks me to no end. Maybe it's the ELA teacher in me... :P

IT's not you, it's the way of the media now. Twisting the titles to make it sound as bad as possible.

A bill to provide monthly payments of $2,000 to Americans within a certain age and income bracket, proposed by Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Ohio., and Rep. Ro Khanna, D-Calif., is gaining steam with a batch of new congressional supporters.

 This idea has been floating around for a bit. I don't want anyone to suffer but this makes no sense. 99% of Americans fall into $130K or less. With roughly 200M Americans over 18 that means approx. $450B per month of national debt for the next 6 months, not including cost of implementation.

Not sure how I feel about that. Sounds like A LOT of debt and paired with rent/mortgage payment cancellations...hmm.

This is the type of thing to jump start the economy. Americans love to spend. The recession will be short lived if something like this passes. Corporate earnings will come back stronger then ever. The only negative is an increase in national debt.

They are just greasing the wheels for inevitable universal income at this point. Fiscal conservatism is officially completely emphatically dead after this administration. Good lord.

The Corporate income tax cuts already had us on course for the largest single year deficit before this disaster.  That’s not bailing us out. Trump put the final nail in the coffin for this countries deficit issues.

There are not rent/mortgage cancellations. Mortgage payments are allowed to be added on to the end of the loan. Rent I am not sure about. What are the laws for this in NYS? My dads tenants are not paying, I know that. Do they get added on to the end of the lease?

Maybe our national debt means very little in the grand scheme of things? Since we are the most powerful country in the world. The weakening of our dollar won't occur when the entire globe is also experiencing a weakening of their own currency. The USA GDP is so large that when we do bad the world does bad and vice versa. We are on our own little shielded island.

Debt is important.  There is no way to candy coat this. Spending outside your means whether a person or a country is never sustainable in the long term.

I agree the house of cards is built on the US but that doesn’t mean we should encourage this shit. Good grief, I’m saying this as a die hard liberal. What in the world is happening.

Not sure about that...It could just go and sit in the banks or some private accounts in the Caymans.

$2000 a month is absurd. I haven't looked into it, so I don't know who the recipients would be. Sounds like more excuses for people to NOT find jobs. That's like a lower middle-class monthly pay.

The government has helped me a lot during these trying times between the stimulus check and the extra$600 in unemployment plus 13 week extension..It's hard for me to expect much more, I even think that's over kill lol  1 more lump sum stimulus check wouldn't surprise me though..

I was able to find a decent quote for private health insurance, $232 a month .

Free yearly wellness check

$25 doctor visit

$50 specialist

$75 hospital

80% coverage on medication, generic or named brand..

Kicks in may 15, so that makes me feel a little better about things..lol

Ya I don’t know enough to say wether the debt portion really hurts us. If the economy grows to out pace it then it doesn’t really matter I guess. You’re spot on with the spending...I know for my wife and I the entire 1st 4K would be blown on crap we don’t need lol.
