John1122
A series of clippers looks likely, they are notoriously fickle in the area. Earlier the Saturday clipper was showing up for West Tennessee but now looks like it's shifted east. As always the higher up the better. I wouldn't be shocked to see the Smokies end up with over a foot when it's all said and done. The Plateau could get a few inches as well. Crossville to my area seems to be in the 1-3 inch range through Saturday. As always it will depend on timing and surface temps. Night would be much better. 3
Holston_River_Rambler
Kind of hard to see, but the HREF even has some probability of blizzard conditions above maybe 5000 feet:
John1122
There's a possibility of convective snow showers with these disturbances. If you get under one you can see very heavy snow and strong wind for brief periods of time. The GFS advertises some flakes basically statewide.
snowmaker
Hoping to see a few flurries or snow showers over here in northwest middle tn with these clippers. I have a feeling this may be the last good chance to see much snow flying the way it looks right now. Would love to at least get one more dusting before winter totally is gone. It hasn't been a good year for much of anybody, but east tn has done better than west or middle this year for sure. If I can't get any I hope the eastern part of the state can cash in.
John1122
The RGEM has in the past been decently skilled with the Northern stream activity. It has the 1st event Wednesday into Thursday. The next isn't in range for it yet.

The NAM soundings are supportive of that for Wednesday night/ Thursday morning. Steep low level lapse rates as 850mb temps drop to below -10C by Thursday morning. Those are always fun if you can get under one. 4
Olhausen
Nam came in a little better for northern Middle Tennessee.

Shocker0
Been snowing here decently at times but not sticking many places. If it snows after sunset we might get a dusting but so far pretty meh. It is down to 33 at my house though
Holston_River_Rambler
Wind is howling up here in MoCo. One of the windiest cold front passages that I can remember this winter.

Shocker0
Heavier snow coming in now with pretty big flakes. Dusting on cars but not on grass yet. Looks like possibly an hour or two of it though, just started.
John1122
Second the wind Holston referred to. Its gusting over 30 here, especially during snow showers. Just drove across town in a sideways shower.
Hilton01
Just from radar looks light there might even be at least snow in the air on the valley floor(Knoxville) when it comes though?? Thoughts?
John1122
I'd guess it reaches the valley areas. Probably earlier than forecast too. My point forecast said 10pm. It switched before 5pm here. Wind has now knocked out the power here. 1
John1122
Steady snow falling now. Looks like even far western areas are seeing streamers.
Shocker0
Our local Emergency Management Agency is reporting deteriorating road conditions throughout Cumberland County, but I'm not sure if it's mainly for water freezing on roadways or what. We only have a light dusting at my house and the roads just seem wet for the most part. 2
John1122
Heavier bands have covered some roads in my area too, even in southern Campbell at lower elevations. Multiple trees down across the county too. Was a potent cold front.
Jed33
Finally a decent snow shower is rolling through here at the house have a light dusting on the picnic table and trampoline. Temp down to
John1122
Dusting here with steady snow falling. Not even showing on radar here. With dealing with flow snow in my area only pretty heavy stuff shows up on radar.
John1122
It's the GFS, so probably wrong, but it's pretty aggressive with Clipper 2.
Shocker0
Snowpleasanthill.mp4 We only have a dusting here, but I think I have a little better understanding of the upslope snow events tonight. Southwest of me five miles in Pleasant Hill everything is white including the roadways, which explains the "deteriorating road conditions" they were talking about here. The snow was noticeably heavier when climbing small hills even. Snowpleasanthill.mp4

The local mets here have been implying that this one is more potent than tonight's system. We'll see.
