Like... Christian rock or something? I thought it was pretty damn entertaining, and inspiring.

And ofc those comments weren't surprising, given that 2 talented Hispanic women were performing, representing, and totally delivering. Clearly an uncomfortable situation for some.

My girl, who is Colombia and is a serious Shakira fanatic, can't understand this country when it comes to being so puritan.  Like her floor was on the floor all day today reading about the vapors and pearl clutching that went on about the half time show.   It's ridiculous.

Imho- the puritan stuff is a facade so people can feel good about themselves as they secretly watch deviant porn late at night and think deviant thoughts as they wander down the sidewalk in the afternoon. I'd venture a guess that half the people who are screaming foul about the halftime show have rewatched the halftime show several times today. Lol

Unfortunately people take things and themselves too seriously.

I used to go to several redskins games each year and it certainly isnt family holsum entertainment. No way would I ever take my 9 year old and 5 year old to an NFL game. The fighting , vulgarity and cruedness that goes on in the stands in crazy. Dont get me wrong I dont mind it, but,I certainly wouldnt want my kids to witness what ive seen and heard at fedex field.

Yes.  People go into full meltdowns if their child sees a boob or a gyrating hip, but man, they're quiet as their child watches a head explode in a movie or stabbing someone to death in a video game.

Here you go again, obsessed with age and thinking people just fall apart at xx age.  You are stupid and I don't have a problem saying it.  Every year and every other post, it's the same sh*(t with you.

And anyway, it's too late for you.  So stop obsessing over it and grow old with as much grace as you can and stfu about ages and aging.

You aren't wrong. But I still think its never too late to correct a mistake.

Not everyone who objects is puritan. What consenting adults do in the confines of the law is fine by me.

But no thanks when watching programming with family. Its not necessary. Its gross in fact.

They are. I've been lucky with all 4 of my kids in their teens. Very open about stuff. Some of what they tell me bothers the F out of me but there's no stopping a 15+ year old from learning by experience. My 23 year olds still talk really open with me about some really difficult stuff. Being a friend AND a parent is really stinkin hard sometimes but it's the only way to get intel and hopefully avoid a disaster.

our 7-year old is starting to become more self conscious of her body. up to this point we could walk around in varied states of undress and she didn't care. now she covers up just running from the bedroom to the bathroom before a bath/shower. Kids.

As the mom of 16 and 13 year old daughters we have always had an open door policy in our house. I do not put up with drama and we have open lines of communication. I am sure we make other parents gasp as we use fowl language from time to time and let them learn from their mistakes. My girls were watching animals mating on Nature from a very early age so talking to them has been very easy.

We did not watch the game or the halftime but I heard about it. Sounds like a clear case of double standard of how women present themselves vs. men. And quite frankly it is a crock of crap. The 16 year old has very strong feelings on the double standard of girls vs. boys when it comes to dress. She finds it laughable that shoulders are found to be sexy. My daughters will have to look for just that right partner later in life, because they will probably piss a lot of them off with their views.

I love this post, thank you for sharing. You sound awesome. But I knew that, from the baking.

The halftime show was entertaining.  If you don't like it, watch the puppy bowl or kitten bowl or something.

I like the mix of African, Arabic and Latin American influences into the performance.  Seems like that was overshadowed - or people were oblivious to it - because of the faux outrage over some gyrating hips.

Thank you. I am told I do not give myself enough credit so going to take this one. I also have to thank my husband for working with me to raise our daughters this way. His support of allowing them to grow into well informed young women really is key.

If I could find a climate that's like yesterday during the summer and like an ice age during the winter, I'd be in heaven.

I see people are getting hyped up about this weekend in the other thread. My heart won't let me jump in.

I’ll take a touch warmer for summer, and not quite as glacial in the winter, and I’ll add that this mythical place must have four seasons that align with the met seasons, except for winter which can begin on the day before Thanksgiving.

You're welcome! And I agree, having a husband who is on the same page helps a lot!

Also yeah, I loathe the heat. Anything over 70 starts to get uncomfortable. Only place I can tolerate it is if I'm at the beach. It was like 60 yesterday and I was out in a t-shirt and felt incredible in the sun. If it's going to be cloudy I'd prefer closer to 70.

Travel hockey was the same when son was playing.....

Watching kids play hockey is awesome.

By the way, kind of a leap into a different direction but the talk of kids in sports reminded me of something. After watching that NFL 100 commercial, I looked up the kid and his name is Bunchie Young. I found a few videos with him and he’s pretty incredible. Even cooler was this site I found, [No Days Off], that highlights young athletes. I’m sure those of you with kids aren’t surprised by the abilities of our youth, but there are some kids that are incredibly gifted. It’s worth checking out.

eta: why was that so difficult?

Blazing hot summer with 100+ temps, strong T-Storms weekly, and a Hurricane to cause minor damage. A freezing cold winter with 50+ inches of snow and a Blizzard or 2.

A nice spring and fall in between that lasts at least 2 months each. Maybe a Spring or Fall flood or an Oct Hurricane.

I love the extremes. Sadly the weather here doesn't usually deliver any of the above. Its been a very long stretch of boring.

No blazing hot summer for me. I have it year round with Hot flashes. And let me tell you all it sucks!

I'm on board with no blazing hot summers but not because of hot flashes.  I'm more about hot asphalt and having to be out in it all day.  i can still cause hot flashes tho.  ;)

@psuhoffman check out this piece of the forecast discussion from the CAIC:

"The atmosphere dries out overnight as the upper-level trough shifts east. This will be short-lived as the eastward movement of the trough eventually puts Colorado under moist northwest flow. Beginning tomorrow night the Northern Mountains will see an extended period of snow with moderate, and at times strong, northwest winds. The strength of the jet stream and abundance of moisture should also provide ample snow down to portions of the Southern Mountains that are favored in northwest flow."

NW flow is the absolute best and most prolific snowfall setup for Steamboat/Winter Park/Summit County in CO and Jackson in WY. The central mountains like Aspen do "ok" usually with NW flow but moisture has to cross a lot of tall ridges to get that far south. It's the same reason that Summit Co sucks ass with SW flow. Aspen gets hammered but there are too many tall ridges between Aspen and Summit Co. I learned my first year there that any winter storm warning with S or SW flow was ripe for an epic bust. I didn't learn it until I suffered through 3-5 epic busts. lol
