He will learn.

Mostly he will learn that Jimmy G is not Patrick MaHome-boy.

I had money on the Chiefs but goodness gracious.  If ever he had a team to just run it out, this was the one.

Yeah pretty shocking, given they were the most dominating running team outside of the Ravens this season. AND their QB is... Jimmy effing G.

Apparently some folks thought the halftime show was quite disgraceful. Re: the comments. Hardly surprising.

Any game where the outcome is in question with 3 mins to go is a good game.  The half-time show was disappointing.

With the patriotism theme in the pre-game and on some of the commercials, I had hopes of something more inspirational and family oriented at half-time.  Those comments on the Fox thread are not surprising in the least.  As a hetro male both performers are no doubt attractive...  However, as so-called family entertainment it was a sad example that missed the mark.  My wife and I discussed the same with our 22 year old daughter.

Sadly, the predominate focus these days is on "what can we do to up the advertising rates?" and sex sells.  With the inclusion of pole dancing and the side by side syncronized pelvic thrusting, they were one step away from porn.  Considering the group of pre-teens on and/or around the stage during the exhibition in coordinated gyration, it's surprising the FCC didn't interject (they still have a 10 second pause built into the broadcast as a result of the wardrobe "malfunction" of Janet Jackson many years ago).  In some circles the combination on display tonight would have garnered a visit by child social services.  The NFL F/O must have greased the skids there somewhere.

Pretty poor post-game celebration too.  So much confetti you couldn't see what was going on.  Too many visual distractions all over, but congratulations to the Chiefs.

Like... Christian rock or something? I thought it was pretty damn entertaining, and inspiring.

And ofc those comments weren't surprising, given that 2 talented Hispanic women were performing, representing, and totally delivering. Clearly an uncomfortable situation for some.

there was a 35 sec delay for the game.

And the same people getting the vapors over Shakira and JLo seemed to be awfully quiet last year when Adam Levine took off his shirt. This had attractive women dressed in a way that made them empowered and look fantastic.  Thats a positive message to girls.  These women are at an age where they start getting shunned by Hollywood as over the hill.  They said FU to that notion. Another positive message.  Their music is sexy so why not showcase that?  Has anyone ever seen a Shakira performance before?  Her dancing and body moves are legendary.  This isn't new.

I'm damn glad they showcased latin music and music from all over the world.  Who cares how they looked?  My only gripe was how bad the lip syncing was but thats most halftime shows.

Until you mentioned it, I was struggling to remember who played last year's halftime show...and I vaguely recall some dust-up about Adam Levine disrobing at the time? I do remember Maroon 5 being mostly underwhelming last year. Music was good last night...I expected the costumes and dance moves that we got, because, well...Shakira & JLo. I've always preferred the former to the latter over the years...but both did well last night (charges of apparent S&M regalia notwithstanding).

Honestly, I don't always pay much attention to halftime, because the quality of the shows is so variable...or I just don't give a crap about some of the artists. Some of the standouts over the past 15-20 years (IMHO) include Prince, Katy Perry, Bruno Mars, Lady Gaga and The Who. Not a huge fan of every one of those artists...but they put on awesome shows.

On a related note, this year's crop of SB commercials was mostly forgettable...however, the Rocket Mortgage commercial w/ Jason Momoa "stripping" off his biceps and chest gave me the heebs, kinda like the "PuppyMonkeyBaby" Mountain Dew commercial from a few years back did.

Why does Kyle Shannahan throw on the 2nd and 5 up 20-17?  He’s a great coach but outsmarts himself in the biggest games.

That was a puzzler to me as well. And he had time on that last possession to run. I would have at least run it on first down there around midfield.

Haha - Believe me, I ain't no bible thumper, but don't begrudge those that are.  To each their own and I've worked 30+ years providing the security for us American's to exercise the freedoms we tend to take for granted sometime.  It's just that the pole dancing and synchronized pelvic stuff was beyond the line of reasonable.  It's sad the exploitation thing has degraded to the point it's at.

Some of yesterday's game reminded me of why I don't watch the NFL much anymore.  Same for the NBA...  You'd think every play was the greatest play in the history of sports.  The "All about me" syndrome is an insult to Team.

Yeah and I bet kids have seen worse than some pelvic thrusting in this day in age with the internet and social media.  I know even I saw things I shouldnt have at age 12/13 and that was back in like 2002 when the internet was just starting to explode

I think it was like the late 1950s the last time the masses were actually 'alarmed' by pelvic movements. Elvis the Pelvis. Jeez.

Lol. Football is the most edgy and violent mainstream sport in the US. The people who watch it crave massive hits and violent outcomes on every play. Not to mention fans love having potty mouth and yelling and screaming at tvs, strangers, and friends. They also love staring at cheerleaders' bodies and thinking dirty thoughts every.single.game. But sexy superstars Shakira and J-Lo are offensive? Omg man. This has to be the DUMBEST argument I've ever seen. I mean seriously. This is next level stoopid.

As I said before, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.  Respect mine and I'll do the same.  To say anyone's opinion about a very subjective topic is right or wrong is in it's own right, contrary to having a healthy debate on the same.
