BuffaloWeather
Flake size increasing. Moderate to sometimes heavy snow outside. Going to take a jeb walk with the dog, these nights are rare.

Honestly I’m over this winter and more than ready for spring, unless we can get a whopper (12”+). Looking forward to tracking summertime thunderstorms, heat waves, and tropical systems. Seems not too far off but at the same time light years away.

I think there is definitely a chance at a whopper if the long range is right.
Leelee
I moved to Amherst last year. I'm quickly getting used to this area not being great for snow. GFS from like 300-384 hours has looked great most runs for the past 2 months. It might pan out someday.

TugHillMatt
The cold air came in to Central NY, and the snow shut off. Par for the course. Enjoy, Buffalo and Rochester!
lakeeffectkid383
BuffaloWeather , Hamburg has been getting lit up the last several hours straight. Theres gotta be what, 2-3” in last 2-3 hours? Those are some nice returns especially given temps are the mid teens now. Some light to occasionally moderate snow in Amherst the last hour but not really adding up to more than a dusting so far, it’s too interment to really add up and it looks like it will be shutting off again north of Buffalo shortly. I've got about an inch here in east Williamsville since about 6:30...nothing heavy, just constant light snow...sadly it's as much as I received last night...

TugHillMatt
I don't understand why there just seems to be no lake influence here. The flow is NW...why is Buffalo getting such good snow on a NW wind? Isn't that a good flow for the Syracuse area? It's like living in a bubble . Warm bubble last night...dry bubble tonight...Lake Ontario has sucked way worse than Erie this year.
wolfie09
I'm thinking the NWS going to bust high again wrt low temps.. Forecast low is 0..I have been dropping about 4° an hour under cloudy skies and light snow.. Down to 13°..
wolfie09
The wind is due north, so unless you move the lake over me your screwed

There is an arctic front approaching which is causing convergence and a slight backing of the winds along the lake erie shoreline before it passes in 1-2 hours.
TugHillMatt
Nice...went from 8 to 10 inches on many of the models consistently for days and ended with 1 inch over 2 days. lol You're killing me, Lake Ontario...killing me! Oh, and the southerly winds...and northerly winds...and southerly winds.

If you look out over erie you can see SW winds, and then north near Ontario NNW winds. Those 2 wind directions are meeting right over my house and creating lift along with aided lake moisture.
wolfie09
The NWS calls it a NW flow Even though its more of a N-NNW flow, at least according to the gfs.. Just like when they call a WSW flow"Westerly" lol

BuffaloWeather
NWS kind of blew it for southern erie county today. Definitely needed at least an advisory. Approaching double digit snow depth. Boston/Colden will have nearly 2' of depth by tomorrow morning.

Syrmax
My place was at 0 this a.m. with a fresh 1.8" of snow yesterday, making the event grand total just shy of 3". Some fine light snow falling also. We're not making 100" this season it appears.

rochesterdave
Monroe county really got skunked. Probably 2” for the entire event (and that’s generous). Snowpack actually diminished over the last few days. Imagine if BUF had pulled the trigger on warnings... Looking ahead I don’t see anything fun for at least a week. March will be great (say it will pa, please, say it will).
