Imagine how DT felt with that forecast which basically blew the UKIE and went all in for a 980 riding the apps.

Yup, there was some sort of ul feature over the lakes but it was a far cry from what was initially advertised.

LC bought it too.... posting a special Tuesday evening column calling for massive disruptions in utility, agricultural, and transportation interests from Columbus to Pittsburgh.   For 12 glorious hours my inner weenie was torqued up like a15 yr old boy on viagra at the playboy mansion.

The crash was brutal.

OH God, not the phantom app runner triple phaser of Feb'09.    I still have visible scars on the palms of my hands from slamming them on my keyboard screaming NOOOOO.

If I recall, it ended up a washed out wave that slid off the Carolina coast

Living in Columbus then I am right there with you on that one.  Imagine what could have been....

Nice burst here now..big flakes under the heavier returns

going to be some "uneven"  storm reports totals I think ....depending on how often one clears the snowboard to measure before it melts or compacts (every 6 hrs for some longer for others)

I know you're close to where I am. What do you think of hrrr bringing the rain snow line as west as the IL River? I think it could come close but sure as west as hrrr/rap show it

I have  no idea ....it will be a NOWCAST situation...but never underestimate dynamic/convective cooling

and a deformation zone later

if it stays all snow many people are going to be surprised

My thoughts exactly. And being near rain-snow line is a good sweet spot if you stay on snow side. Lol

Lots of dripping and wet roads here with a temp at 35.  The sky has brightened up as well, which is aiding the melting on paved surfaces, etc.  Biggest question here is tomorrow night's grand finale spoke of energy.  We're on the western edge of that, and the Euro has bumped a bit east with that.  A few more ticks east and we'll miss out on the best of that.  Still gonna ride the 4-7" for grand total for now.

Next round gathering down south.  Have really low expectations here tonight but hopefully will get a period of decent snow falling as much of Friday looks kind of boring.  The def band looks pretty good on the sim reflectivity products so late Friday into Saturday would have the potential for some decent rates if thermal profiles cooperate.

It's looking like the Dekalb/SchaumburgStormer area could be in line for the max totals.  Possibly west side of Chicago if trends continue to bump east.

+1 Here! ;-)

My area seems to get those unexpected lake plumes (even 25ish miles from the lake) and quirky precip bumps that have created a couple of nice storms.

Edit 2:20 PM - Just had a few minutes of some quarter-sized monster flakes fall. Crazy. Quick covering of the now melted and plowed street...

As someone recently stated....

I'll believe it when I see it in the yard (both the front AND the back yard).
