NorthHillsWx
Warmer than average, wetter than average, below normal or no snow. 2019-20 might go down as my first winter period without seeing any snow. Cliff? Oh I'm off the cliff. I'm swimming with the sharks below

Wow...Joe B going bleak for winter in the U.S. That's about as rare as a SE snowstorm. Too bad we can't rely on folklore. We've had multiple foggy days in August so far. Old people (the age I am now) used to say the more foggy days in August, the more snow in the winter.

griteater
The last time we had a weak La Nina, it snowed in Atlanta and Charleston in separate storms, and we had such a prolonged and severe cold spell that kids played ice hockey on frozen ponds in Wilmington...all of that occurring during a winter with above normal temperatures

We had a decent little snow before Christmas. January saw a good snow and almost a week where it didn't get above freezing. I would take a repeat of that winter and be thrilled.

I am one of those old people of which you speak. You asked for it. It gets earlier every year. Top Six Southern Winter Folklore Sayings 1. If you count the morning fogs in August you will know how many August mornings were foggy. 2. A heavy crop of acorns will lead to fatter than average squirrels next spring. 3. If it thunders in winter, 10 days later it will have happened 10 days ago. 4. If you study the bands of the wooly worm you will know how many are brown and how many are black. 5. Snow that lays on the ground for more than three days is dirty. 6. A ring around the moon means your Lasik surgeon screwed up. 2
