I would think that some of those totals are very hard to measure accurately with all the wind creating drifts. Some of those pics Hazey posted of completely covered streets are all-timers! Theres a limit to how much a single storm can produce especially at sea level. The 20" on the ground before the storm makes it worse. Mt pearl is reporting 54" depth. I had to walk through some deep snow to make it in. I added a pic from Pitts Memorial that I didn't take. Angus Posted January 18, 2020 Share Posted January 18, 2020 Looking at those pictures reminded me that during the '78 Blizzard, we didn't really hurry to shovel our driveways b/c there was no place to drive! My parents neighborhood basically just went home to home and shoveled each other out. I was a freshman in high school.
