bowtie`
I had hoped it would be severe clear so I could catch up on some sleep but nooooooooooo. Some clouds were invading from the southwest and made it another colorful sunset. When I got to the pond just after local sunset... Did not take long for the yellow to complete the semi-circle... Max orange... Max red... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...
bowtie`
The system to my west stayed away just far enough to give me another colorful sunset. Local sunset... The yellow... The Orange... The reds... In this image I think a penguin is chasing something in the western sky...
bowtie`
Was not sure what was going to happen with the sunset this evening. But of course I was out there just in case. When I first got out there everything was grey and blue and kind of boring... After some time started getting some broad crepuscular rays from over the horizon... Suddenly the Sun rounded the corner on the horizon and it was like someone flipped a switch. More crepuscular rays... What happened next made all the effort of keeping the rain drops off of the camera and not heading indoors when the thunder roared. This made my jaw drop. I could feel the texture in the sky as it was all encompassing. Even at 16mm as I am here I still chopped a lot of it out. It was glorious... The red was not too shabby itself. Well worth the missed sleep with these late colors... Good night my darlin' wherever you are...
bowtie`
Some more nice color tonight. The yellow... The orange starting to creep in... The serious orange with the red slithering in from the top... The departing red/almost purple... Way past sunset and this is all incidental light. Usually the blues go all wonky this late but this image seems to be close to balanced...
bowtie`
After a wash out the night before, I was back at the pond this evening. A bit of a rainbow when I got there... Local sunset... Starting to go orange. And I like the shower on the left side of the image... I kept my head on a swivel and noticed the clouds to the east were getting lit up big time... Back to the west for max red... And ending the night with the scrap reds and the smoke/haze on the horizon...
bowtie`
Not much to the sunset this evening. Just these clouds to the northwest... And these clouds to the east...
bowtie`
Extreme minimalist sunset this evening. Local Sunset... Post sunset clouds... And the moon at 35mm...
bowtie`
Some nice color with the sunset. Post sunset with the clouds still white... Some orange creeping in... Vertical with the beginning of the red... Horizontally with more red... Last dregs of reds... Say Goodnight Gracie...
bowtie`
Tonight as a fight with condensation, taking lens that had cold-soaked in A/C all day and out in extremely hot and humid conditions. I did not miss anything important but it was irritating seeing how I used all three lens and had to wait three times for lens to equalize. First image is off to the north with the 16-35mm... Next was off to the west with the 24-70mm... The extreme post sunset was with the 100mm...
bowtie`
I was hoping the backside of the system that dumped a decent amount of rain today would time out well for the sunset. Was kind of wishful thinking. There was a thinning of the clouds looking south of all directions during the best color... Did not get an opening westward till it was too late. This really does not translate well just how dark it was...
bowtie`
No clouds at all for the sunset this evening. So I took a pass and did not go out to the pond. But I did go out there around the noon hour when there was a slight and brief burst of cumulus. Figured it was time to show what the pond looks like in daylight. bowtie`
Had some clouds to shoot during this sunset. Not much color to work with. I guess that makes it a 50/50 sunset. Was vivid when I got out to the pond... Even looked great vertically ( or as they call it, portrait mode) Ending horizontally... Ending vertically...
bowtie`
Thought the evening would be a wash-out but a couple of holes opened up around sunset so I made the trek out to the pond. When I got there looking south... Some color looking southeast... What little color there was to the west...
bowtie`
After to rain-out days, it as good to get back to the pond this evening. Some color creeping into the view to the east... Nice design with the beginning of the post sunset to the west... Orange... And ending the evening with the red...
bowtie`
Plenty of clouds this evening. Throw in some nice color and you have a condition where I share to many images because I can not make up my mind or stop taking cloud images. Hang on to your hats! Ignition of the jet engine... A bright but unicolor sun-dog (or Parhelia ) on the north side of the Sun... The Sun dipping behind a cloud and forming a cloud shadow... Widening out a bit to get more color... And sometimes you have no more to widen out and just have to stick the horizon at the bottom of the image and forgo any thought of a reflection image... Back with the reflection image... The beginning of the red, vertically... And the last of the red, horizontally... Hope I did not bore you to tears.
bowtie`
I ventured out to the pond early to get some white cumulus images. Good thing I did as that is where all three of the images come from for today. Looking east when I got there... Looking south... Looking south again after a period of time had passed... bowtie`
I was spinning like a top tonight at the pond. Did not matter which direction I faced, there were clouds at some time to image. Looking south... Looking northeast... Looking southeast... But of course my favorite is west. Pre-sunset... Post sunset... The early reds... The late reds...
bowtie`
While there were not a lot of clouds tonight, the few I had were in the right place and at the right time. Pre-sunset... Beginning of post-sunset... The orange with the beginning of the red... Max red. Maybe a little over-the-top but I like it....
bowtie`
Another nice evening at the pond. Local sunset... Start of orange up high. There was a disabled semi right in a bad spot all night. Just had to live with it... Orange on the horizon... The red was vivid but all overhead. I had to forgo the reflection image to get it all in here... bowtie`
Another colorful sunset. Has been quite the run again. This can not last. But until the stratus-fest starts again, I am soaking these up all I can. Pre-sunset when I got out to the pond... Close to local sunset... Beginning of the good color... The red with a wee, tiny sun pillar... and ending the night with an extremely late color image. Almost looks like the Martian atmosphere. Out of this world!...
bowtie`
And the run continues another day. Batter-up! When I got out to the pond... Close to local sunset... The orange... The red... and the extreme late colors... Cheers!
bowtie`
I would like to think that the atmosphere was making up for the wash-out from last night, but I know better. Still it was a very colorful sunset and well worth the time to be out there for it. Close to if not sunset... Just going to skip straight to the red for the evening because that is what I like best. Here the red is rolling in from the north... Looking to the southwest, the mark of Zorro... A wide angle of the "Z" and the stuff on the horizon... The last vestiges of the red... Good night my darlin' where ever you are
bowtie`
Not every night can not be rock star quality like last night was. But it was a nice generic sunset. Pre-sunset with some crepuscular rays... Close to local sunset... Beginning of post-sunset color... End of post sunset color...
bowtie`
The sunset has it's concert clothes on and as glitzing and glamming up the runway again. When I got out to the pond. Rain to the south of me. Clear skies to the northwest. A perfect recipe for some color. Local sunset... Here comes the wild colors, the orange... And now the amps were all up to Spinal Tap 11. The red... And a tinge of purple for the encore... Lower the curtain, this show is over....
bowtie`
Not much to this evening. Probably the best color... Some crepuscular rays from the cells in South Dakota/Nebraska...
bowtie`
A gorgeous night to be outside. And a gorgeous night for some nice color in the sky. A bad portend. Local sunset between the billboards now. The Sun is really racing to the south now.... Start of the post sunset color. The yellow. And instead of a jet engine, how about a whole jet fighter... The orange... The pinks... The red, and the jet became a kangaroo or a roadrunner... Cheers!
bowtie`
Was dodging and hiding under the umbrella this evening hoping for some nice stuff if the Sun could round the corner in time. In the afternoon before the rain, looking southwest... The Sun sneaking a peek... Just a little crepuscular rays... Late, late color with some cloud shadows from a cell in central Illinois... bowtie`
Not much in the way of clouds this evening. So here is a relatively newish moon. Only around 4% illuminated.
bowtie`
All the clouds were towards the southern side tonight. I did not go to the water and just stayed in the grass close to the car. There were fisherman all over the pond anyway so doing it this way saved everyone a lot of hassles. At least there was a little bit of nice color to keep me happy. Looking southeast... Looking south... And looking southwest... Good night my darlin', wherever you are...
bowtie`
Had a disturbance to the southeast and another one to the northwest. And here I as stuck in the middle with you. Time for some Stealers Wheel. Looking south by southeast when I got out to the pond... Always slightly depressing to see the Sun setting to the south side of the billboards... Tried for the huge reflection shot. Too bad the plastic on the GND's kind of mess with the colors. Need to think about updating to some quality glass filters... The orange.... The red... This is extreme post sunset. The smoke and haze on the western horizon produced some interesting banding... Cheers!
