Radtechwxman
21z hrrr is laughable at surface evolution. It has like 2-3 low centers. Very odd evolution

michaelmantis
I'm looking at the stationary front placement right now over N IL and it looks to go from Waukegan straight to Peoria (it essentially crosses right over me in Elgin, IL). Temp 37 now. Knife's edge... But assuming temps will stay the same or even warm a bit as the first round come in...

Natester
KGAN forecasting a significant ice storm in the southern counties. As for here, forecast now calls for a tenth of an inch of ice.

FWIW (probably nothing at all) but the HRRR has been initializing 1-3 degrees too warm for most locations in N IL & has the freezing line a tad too far west in Iowa...like I said probably nothing that’ll make a difference but when you’re forecasting down to a degree the slightest change can make a difference. I wasn't really expecting any thunder this far north, but am thinking SE IN/SW OH may get some wind out of a T-storm this weekend. Nailed it. Kaner88
Starting to wrap up here in Omaha, most riveting ~2.5 hours of the season Probably an inch or so when it's all set and done, enough to double commute times but not enough to totally cover the grass 1

Hoosier
21z RAP is one amped up son of a gun. Honestly I am expecting something deeper and maybe a bit west than the globals. Just a gut feeling. 2
cyclone77
First call from last evening still looking on track. Regular rain may hold on a bit longer than how it looked last eve, but should still get a good period of sleet/freezing rain. 2-5" snow call still looks okay. Yesterday's near 60 degree warmth is a distant memory.

Freezing rain might linger for a couple more hours although it's predominantly sleet right now. I'm a couple miles west of downtown Cedar Rapids and it has been raining here for quite a while. I certainly wasn't expecting 4+ hours of freezing rain. There are a few pingers, but it's mostly rain. Everything is glazed in ice and icicles are dangling from things like the bird feeder. Frog Town
So with it bumping east and taking a track towards Cleveland, wouldn't the Axis of snow shift more towards SE MI/NW Ohio? Or is this a situation where there is just a lack of cold air for that to occure
