Looks like I will set my sights on  Lancaster now. Probably be Mt Pocono in another run or 2.

Hanover is the place to be. If you come up I can guarantee a minimum of 6 inches. Of course it might be a localized event, very localized, say in my back yard? Around the snow making machine I would buy to guarantee those 6 inches?

Even with this cold pattern change we could still end up with barely anything this winter if the storm tracks are always north and just cold rain here. When was the last time that my area had much below normal snowfall despite it being cold and stormy because of a northerly track and having incredibly bad luck timing it right?

Last winter.

Maybe not much below, but solidly below and esp wrt to areas nearby. Failed pretty much every way possible given the opportunities.

True.  And since the vast majority of Day 5 threats are likely to fail (just averages/climo), threads started at Day 5 usually don’t work out.

It really doesn't pay to make a storm specific thread before D3, otherwise you're making a wishcasting thread that 9/10 times turns into 35 and rain.

Pretty remarkable how things turned bad within minutes of this thread being opened (right before yesterday’s 12z Euro).

Part of the blame lies with @stormtracker for prematurely starting the thread, but it was @Bob Chill who openly tossed the Euro yesterday.  He is the one who deserves pitchforks and torches.

Cold and dry followed by more cutters that look like snow 10 days away.

I really think after many were saying the overall look is similar to last winter we are going to get burned again like last winter with these LR ens and weeklies. When they show a poor pattern they are right. When they are all in agreement with good looks tho......

Some snow porn photos from out west in Oregon.  Mt Bachelor has had 75" this week with several more feet on the way through this weekend.

Snowshoe hike with my dogs yesterday.  Posted a July photo of the Farewell Trail sign to show how deep it  is.

The dogs were swimming in the deep powder.

A fine looking family. May your winters remain full of crystals and your summers continue to appear as in the first photo. As always .....

Lol, you miss the point.

Dec 09 was in doubt all the way to hr72 and even then there was plenty of doubt. The second Feb storm was similar. However, first Feb was a long distance telegraphing as was Jan 16. Those 2 storms are the longest lead big dogs I've ever seen.

I remember us talking with Wes before the Feb Storm when it was 10 days away about how perfect it looked on that run and “Shame it has no chance to be right”. lol
