TugHillMatt
I was in downtown Syracuse today and saw some shrubs, that to me, looked like had new buds on them. Wouldn't surprise me with 50 degree highs and the Urban heat island...

rochesterdave
Euro flipped every period for last 4. Disgusting. Always knew it would land on the weak solution. But seeing that foot plus, every 12 hrs, was uplifting. Albeit wrong.

CNY-LES FREAK
This doesn't look like Winter temps to me, especially considering the Sun is pretty much at its weakest point, as far as warmth and melting power goes! 25F in International Falls, MI, lol, the so called icebox of the Nation! CNY-LES FREAK
I wish the flow around that enormous UL HP thats sitting over the Caribbean right now would slow down just a bit, dayum!
CNY-LES FREAK
I'll tell you waht, this UL trough, instead of heading neutral then continuing on to perhaps even negative, NO, it comes in Positive and goes neutral to negative once it hits the coast, RLMAO! Thats seems right on track with this yrs horrific luck!
CNY-LES FREAK
This could of been something much much more interesting if the support was there from up above but there's none at all, none, and besides the fact its 45F at 9PM, on Jan 4th in Syracuse, lol!

rochesterdave
Normally, this would be a banging storm track with plenty of cold and lake enhancement. Not this January.

Welcome to the new norm...we have officially become the mid Atlantic region...we pray for Perfect conditions and hold on to op runs like they're meteorlogical gospel only to realize they're a boy band playing in purgatory. It needs the ****ing snow...

Always on the rain/snow line...hoping for a bit of cold to change it over to snow...watch it all melt within in the next two days...then temps in the 40s and brown everything until the next possibility 2 weeks later. TugHillMatt
Hey, freak, don't you just love how all the models now show this system putting the screws to all of us in Northern Syracuse suburbs??? It's like the system was designed just for you, me, and our buddies in Clay and Brewerton.

I think I had 45-50" that season and we are already around 30". Calls for a "new normal" seem overwrought based on a lousy, and ill timed, three week period.

lakeeffectkid383
Been snow here since about 515 but only a dusting as temps are still too warm at 33 degrees and it’s not coming down heavy really, just steady. Would be surprised if we finish we more than an inch as the back edge will be through here in the next 1-2 hours.

BuffaloWeather
A dusting that is already gone here. Overnight runs look terrible for the next 10 days. Going to need some serious reshuffling to get anything that resembles winter.

I’ll set the January over/under line at +10...

BuffaloWeather
16 hours ago, OHweather said: Yeah this pattern looks nothing like a strong El Nino...we'd have a giant negative anomaly just off the West Coast pumping a ridge over most of the continent with a modest trough over the SE, about the opposite of what we have now. The issue has actually been a general lack of thunderstorms over the Pacific keeping the Pac jet too weak/retracted, putting ridging south of the Aleutians/near the Dateline (which is too far west) and a trough on the West Coast (pumping the SE ridge). We had our most interesting pattern in and around November when we actually had a more prolonged flare-up of convection over the western/central Pacific. We should get another more prolonged flare-up mid-January through the first week or two of Feb over the Pacific which is why I think a shakeup is coming. It's going to be very cold over Canada and once we dislodge that south we may flip pretty abruptly.

The Aleutian ridge is driving a pattern that's poison for us.
