Looks like that one on the 18z GFS is a stalling front with low pressure developing and bringing the goods....

Weenie run of the decade You know as long as we are talking about Weenie fantasies, I think I'd rather have this dream scenario on Christmas Eve, or maybe even Dec 23rd. I think I enjoy the lead up to Christmas more than Christmas itself.

StantonParkHoya
Even with significant changes, seems a rather cold Christmas Day is coming into focus, no matter the set up.

eyewall
I fully expect to zero out on snow in Raleigh this year so cold for Christmas will have to do.

BullCityWx
Looking at the GEFS ensembles, there’s 7/20 members showing at least a trace of snow on Christmas.
BullCityWx
That is three runs in a row with a piece of energy rounding the base of the trough on Christmas Day. If it happens, it should enhance the snow in the mountains plus give some snow shower action east of the mountains. I doubt it’ll amount to much but considering I’ve seen snow on two of the forty christmases I’ve had on earth, I wouldn’t bitch if it happened. 2

eyewall
On both the GFS and Euro it is cold chasing the moisture with it primarily being a FROPA. That is the kiss of death for the NC Piedmont. It almost NEVER works out. The GFS tries to develop a surface low but it is barely there.
