Correct me if I'm wrong that's a lot of sleet.

Likely yes but “snowfall” on NAM is hard to distinguish. Voyager sits in a much more favorable location being northeast of the LSV.

and that doesn’t mean he’s a big winner here, but 0z was rather similar with qpf distribution.

that’s my point.

I’ve said it for days....wrt this system thermal profiles will determine what your backyard gets. Storm has been rather consistent in where it’s going. We still have 48 hrs to see how CAD and antecedent cold factor in. Systems like this can surprise as we approach game time.
way too early to call anyone’s backyard.

Looking over the 18Z Nam I see it showing a snow to sleet storm and then ending before 7pm Saturday evening.  No rain as surface remains below freezing before, during, and then after the storm passes.  This seems to concur with the snow to sleet storm the GFS painted over us as well.  It would be great to reach 2" of snow before the mix/changeover.  My guess is there will likely be a nice burst of heavy snow for the first several hours before the mix.  One thing the GFS shows is temps will be no warmer than the 30's through the end of the run with 20's for highs for quite a few of the days.

I'm hoping/thinking everything you just stated as well.  In truth, , you have a legit chance of this verifying just as you wish.  Seeing the frozen lines continue to creep South gives hope to minimal non frozen (except for maybe far S/SW crew (and they are rather close to predominantly frozen events....just less snow and more ice

Can you give me the Geenie lamp for the 1/25 event??

Just give us the most qpf possible with this system.  We are going to start out cold with this event.  I think the cad will hang on until the precip ends. Surface temps will most likely be colder than what the  globals are showing.  We can only hope the upper levels hold on a little longer for snow/sleet.

I feed my worm lots of oats and kelp. Makes the most biodiverse castings and leachate (Piss and Shit ) as far as bacterial / fungal  diversity goes . I use the casting to brew a actively aerated compost teas or aerobic tea for short . I do a type of Japanese composting called bokashi to facilitate beneficial anaerobic bacteria colonization. What a stink fest that is if done wrong. I welcome anyone that wants to learn to come one over. lol

Do you sell your worms for money or do you use them for bait only? You seem to be very knowledgeable with this.

Hi there Daxx . I use the enzymes fungus and bacteria from the leachate and castings  to increase photosynthetic sugar production or °BX  in produce  . If your looking for composting worms I would be willing to give you thousands . If you need nightcrawlers a calm cool wet night with a dim or red headlamp will give you plenty fishing worms and appreciation for how many Lumbricus terrestris there actually are under your feet  and what they do. The earth would be burred in carbon and nitrates without them and all the other worm species.  Good Luck with the storm on Saturday if there is much luck to be had.

This is actually interesting!  I never would have thought worms were used for such things. Good luck to you as well!

I THINK THERE GONA LOVE MY DOWN TO EARTH WAYS AND MY GROUND BREAKING WEATHER FORCASTING SKILLS IF THEY HAVE GOT OVER ME CALLING THEM ALL PUSSYS TWO YEARS AGO IN MY FIRST EVER PHILLY POST. I officially declare my self the Gary Busey of weather minus the alcohol and cocaine.

Looks like the ens are starting to line up w/ the Ops as per blizz's map above.  wrt overnights, cmc ticked north, 6z gfs ticked south, but it looks like turnpike and north mostly frozen w/ north and north of 80 seeing most white (while still seeing brief mixing.

to me that 2-4 call with me closer to 2 and voyager and points north best whack at 4 or more.  This is based off thermal fields and seeing them slowly eek south, which increases my confidence at frozen vs plain rain mixing in.  Really looks like a decent amount of sleet for lower/mid suqu valley.

yeah, the 6z gfs was by far the best run of the year (go peek at snow map).  If we can keep this look on the maps, there is a nice train of events for trackin in the next couple weeks.

We just need opportunities, which the GFS has plenty of. One of 'em is bound to break right for us. At the very least we'll be tracking...

That sucks its not every day a guy puts his stick in a hornets nest. Is old wiggy more tolerant of vespanesctality porn (hornet nest sex) ?

I really don't have a good answer for that...

SO, it's going to get very windy later today. @canderson hopefully HBG comes through this unscathed. :)

talking to a friend last night ( yes i have friends :D) he is concerned of significant Sleet and a longer duration of freezing rain then snow.

I Haven't seen you around in a few Welcome back kerplunk

Thanks...have been lurking, but very uninteresting winter so far at UNV so nothing to post about.

Your post about the earthworms reminded me of how I used to keep my nightcrawlers in a big old Zellers potato chip can in our fridge when I was young.  Had holes punched in the bottom with top open and the soil covered in damp, shredded newspapers.  My mom used to get really upset because they'd sometimes crawl out and get lost in the back of the fridge—only to be discovered after they'd dried up.  Had to use a putty knife to scrape them off.  Haha.
