They should keep a stat for liquid equivalent in the form of snow/sleet. Basically the monthly precipitation with the RA and ZR filtered out. I know in the climo data of yore a lot of weenies separated the two out like that, but most just labeled any snowfall as 10:1. So you got a lot of 5" / 0.50" garbage.

That's how I've recorded my "SnowLiquid" spreadsheet for my years in Maine, though I haven't included the smaller events, mainly those 2"+.  Full winters have run from a high ratio of 13.62-to-1 for 1981-82 in Fort Kent to the low of 8.33-to-1 last winter.

25.8F  Light snow.    2.25" of fluff.  Neighbor just called and said the roads are surprisingly bad.  Wasn't a surprise to me but I think this little event caught some off guard.  With temps in the upper 20's and light to moderate snow falling the past couple of hours the roads became covered quick.  This stuff has such little water content.  Leaf blower application on driveway will take care of it quickly

Bold call, got any others since the odds of two20 inch storms in one year for your area are 1 /100

good storm yes, for some. Locally and even regionally (ene, se ne) 12/9/05 was far more memorable honestly, though snowed a few inches less (or more..)

now it is onto scrap clipper/anafront season

Nice snowy evening and the upslope flow seems to be doing it's thing.

Up at the ski resort there was around 3" on the ice rink and it was coming down steadily when I left an hour or so ago.

Down in town found 2" at home.  Not the deep snow of SNE but wintry vibe with snowy evenings several times this week.
