hooralph
Snowfall rates have appreciably lessened in past 30 + minutes in lower Manhattan. Visibility has gone from about 1/2 mile to well over (based on looking out my window across the river at Brooklyn). Snow has not stuck to anything. BritweatherUK
Hello NYC - from a chilly London ENG I used to be on here moons ago before my account was lost. I havent really looked at the models or even any details > but the crude measure for times square webcam was that at 6pm GMT it was 37F & now sits at 33F (9pm GMT ) so the transition is pretty much complete to all snow. Obviously Manhattan especially the central point of times square has a high UHI so to be at 33F means areas sightly to the NW are probably 32F or below- Enjoy the snow - Updated ECM 12z showing another snow even in about 8-9 days time although it could be further upstate Have a good eve -
Enigma
Obs are not in line with radar today. These SWSs have also been grossly out of proportion to reality.

Yeah earlier someone on the UWS was saying it was 'ripping' with 'an inch' otg already. I'm about a mile from there and that was never the case. All the snow that’s by the fingerlakes will have to pass us and the precip by Boston! Still another 10 hours of precip here we just need a good four hours to get 4-
Greg g
Is the coastal storm very slow to form or just not enough energy with it?? From what I see on Radar and satellite it doesn’t look like it’s fully form, is that true? Thanks

Gravity Wave
In the end the heaviest banding did set up over the city, it was just that it was much weaker than anyone expected and wasted on the UHI during the middle of the day (with the exception of NENJ). MJO812
Radar looks bad Every model had 4-8 inches for the NYC area last night and this morning because of the banding. This is why I hate to rely on banding. They usually end up somewhere else. Rgem, HRDPS, Gefs, euro eps, Nam, cmc , geps all showed several inches this morning. TWC updated to 5-8 inches earlier today. The radar did look good earlier today but now it looks really bad. Maybe we get a few inches but even that looks bad. I hate starting storms with temps above freezing. Give me a storm where temps are in the 20s. Miller A storms please
