Observations of snow, sleet, freezing rain Sun-Tue Dec 1-2-early 3

1 inch here on colder surfaces like car tops. Pavement just has a slushy dusting. We've had heavy snowfall rates and 33 degrees the last few hours. I'm surprised it's having so much trouble accumulating. You wouldn't think sun angle would be a big deal this time of year. 33 is obviously only 1 degree above freezing, so you'd think heavy snow would accumulate easily. But somehow the sun angle seems to be hurting us. Unless it's more because pavement was wet and warm. Too bad this heavy snow band didn't hit us at night when it would accumulate easily. Hopefully there will be plenty left for tonight, but I'm concerned about the snow band shifting north and east for tonight.

Still snowing well in highland lakes.

think I make a run at 10 inches when it’s all done

NYC showing heavy returns, my window says flurries. Meanwhile up your way, my radar shows light snow, yet you're still getting crushed.

You can look at the radar all day but it'll never compensate for topography. The lift out your way is always reliable.

Getting crushed up here in the Helderbergs west of Albany. 26 hours straight now, though from midnight to noon only about 3.5 inches accumulated.  Back to a near white out now. Over 18" down.

Awesome, enjoy. Meanwhile I have a few mangled flakes now in Melville. Radar looks like things are consolidating here in western Suffolk.

Starting to stick to the pavement just a bit now in Carteret. It looked like it was fading away for a few moments, but now snowing at a pretty decent rate, at least at the moment.

Seems like this is very hit and miss for everyone, not sure where we will end up here, but it’s a nice bit of December magic and as long as it’s not hazy hot and humid out I’m fine. :)

Lets give it some time. It could just be reorganizing. Sussex/Orange counties have always been in a good spot for this event.

I have relatives all around LI …  East Northport, Albertson, etc.  Hopefully it swings east and nails them a bit.  Though I'm not sure if they want snow. ;)
