The next 8 days are averaging 38degs. or about 2degs. AN

Month to date is  -2.3[37.9].       Should be about  -0.6[38.1]by the 22nd.

53* here at 6am, Fog<0.1mile.     T has been variable, 54* at 10am+Fog is back.    57* at Noon.       52* by 3pm, variable Fog, breezy now.

Gonna have to watch that closely. I think ice is a much bigger concern obviously as surface temps will be very slow to warm.

I think someone sees a nice period of snow with this because the initial surge is coming from a pretty strung out disturbance. I  would be more worried at this point that we see QPF drop off then a warming trend because some of the guidance really shows this as a sheared mess.

Euro starts the city out as snow then goes to ice.  It's the coldest model.

hey 88 and others I understand it is what the models are showing and foolish not to keep an eye on it  but don't the models usually have a difficult time with Ice ? I mean when they are showing ice or Z a few days before the event isn't it usually something else besides ice ?

1.85" since it started yesterday. Finishing the year like we started, saturated and soggy.

This rollercoaster is getting annoying, we keep going from fall to winter, mud to snow to mud. I'm over it. Bring on spring :)

Who are you kidding, you're far from over it. It's only just begun.

Usually see Upton go with a blend of solutions but they seem to be going against the Euro and the Gfs.

There is some
uncertainty as to how quickly the cold air will be replaced as
high pressure tracks off shore Monday. With the progressive low
have leaned toward a slightly warmer solutions, unlike the GFS
and ECMWF. This low is forecast to track along the frontal
boundary, moving in the vicinity of the forecast area Tuesday.

Mid level warmth is usually under forecasted in these setups.  Almost every single time, I start hearing pingers after initial snow much sooner than progged.  It is almost a given.

I said almost the same thing verbatim on the NW burbs thread about ten minutes ago. I hate that sound.

NAM still rides up the Apps with the SLP but it's a lot slower.  A couple of surges of precip. out ahead of the system are frozen from the MA up through our area.  But the 500mb depiction is still unfavorable for snow.  Ice maybe.

Nam barely has rain after it starts as snow and ice for many.
