Apparently this snow photo is from Australia

Lol. I don’t know why it posted upside down. Anyway. It was a record snowfall for the date for us at 3 inches. And tonight’s predicted low of 7 would be the earliest we’ve ever hit single digits!

With the amount of controversy and criticism EC receives for YYZ's snow measuring techniques, this isn't surprising.

I'd assume it has something to do with a lack of funding. But even then, Windsor is a major city in Ontario and this is unacceptable.

This is most likely the biggest snowfall report I've personally seen in the Lwr Peninsula of Michigan in all my years of following wx.

Cedar Rapids, IA also no longer reports an official snow total.  There are plenty of spotters in town, though, so it's no big deal.  I'm just not sure how the NWS handles the records now.

This visible satellite image from yesterday looks kind of like a January satellite image after the snowfall. I think it has more green than mid-winter color images. Also, about 0% of the lakes are frozen over.

Not many in the subforum can dispute that this was not only anomalous, but it was a spread the wealth storm. I would like to see several of these this winter.

It was a fun storm! And as you alluded to, majority of the sub cashed in on the action! Although I only received 2”, it was fun as hell seeing it whipped around with 25-35mph winds.

Getting such a spread the wealth system this large can be difficult sometimes even in the middle of winter.  To get one like this so early is pretty remarkable.  :snowing:

Thats no shit especially the last few years, been a definite have and have not's winters. But this isn't winter lol.  Weather geeks love the anomalous in stats thats based on averages, always some fun lol.   I never made it to 5 for this one dammit,.  Was dancing around the house burning sage watching Brian Greene trying to get the the mystical and the math to align for that last half inch of ego but as usual nature dictates.

I took the day off yesterday and enjoyed the snow all day like a kid. The scenes were remarkable, a gorgeous winter wonderland, which included some odd scenes with some trees still clinging to leaves (they have also dropped like fish flies onto the snowblanket with the cold lol). The storm was unprecedented for this time of year, and seeing so many peoples cars get stuck, walking through deep snow, feeling the mid-winter air....it was almost surreal to remember that its BEFORE MID NOVEMBER!

Now to recap the stats:

The 9.2" at Detroit officially broke the following records:

~Largest November snowstorm on record...the big storms overwhelmingly happen Dec-Mar

1.) 9.2" - Nov 11/12, 2019

2.) 9.0" - Nov 15/16, 1932

3.) 6.6" - Nov 27/28, 1891

4.) 6.4" - Nov 15/16, 1925

5.) 6.3" - Nov 25/26, 1950

~Largest calendar day November snowfall on record

1.) 8.5" - Nov 11, 2019

2.) 7.2" - Nov 16, 1932

3.) 6.2" - Nov 15, 1925

4.) 6.0" - Nov 21, 2015

5.) 5.6" - Nov 27, 1977

~Greatest Observation Time Snow Depth on record for November

1.) 9" - Nov 12, 2019

2.) 8" - Nov 16, 1932

3.) 7" - Nov 13, 2019

4.) 7" - Nov 28, 1950

5.) 7" - Nov 29, 1950

The storm was then followed by record smashing cold, but I will post that in the November thread.
