We have had snow already..what I said was, a snowstorm. We are all hungry for at least a 6-10" type event pre-Christmas. If we go mostly bare ground and starving into January there's gonna be some strong concerns, maybe a few panic/melts/cancellations too. 1 1

Aroostook County they got about a foot the other day, and quite a few locals busted out the sleds. Let’s keep it coming.... They ride the rail bed early up there.

Shame with such a big moist system. This will end up your typical cold, rainy windy November nor'easter with rains to the mountains. Hopefully the result will be different in 2-3 more weeks

So it’s seasonable and Normal.

It takes a more anomalous airmass this time of the year. If we had moderating cold becoming stale in place over time like we do here between Saturday and Monday except it was a month later, it would be enough. But this time of year you really need almost pure Arctic airmasses...not all the time, but most of the time.

The dewpoints are going to be near 0, 24 hrs prior to this storm...I would also think a block to the north would help keep that cold in a bit longer? Biggest problem with the setup is the high retreats really quick. It's possible we get a bit more ZR than shown right now though if it holds a little longer than guidance shows...which has been known to happen on these cold airmasses.

powderfreak
Distant thunder! Squalls incoming and we did hear a low rumble... looks like the radar showed the strike just north of Johnson. 1 1
powderfreak
Yeah looks like the NWS has had a couple other reports of thunder/lightning with this band of snow squalls.

(T-Day last year was far more uncomfortable and anomalous.) The 14th is even 5 days ahead of my earliest subzero in Ft. Kent, though we had only 10 years there and this is November #22 here.
