moneypitmike
Per the forecast, it seems early for the wind--light as it is--to be backing around. It appears that might be the case though. In other news, if you don't look too closely, the fog gives the appearance of snow. Faux weather.

The roads are were pretty much left alone in anticipation of the mixed bag o'crap and that seems to have worked ok as they weren't glazed. Glad I put my winters on back in October when my summer tires were shot. A bit earlier than I would prefer but at least I was ready.

That means you have mid level waa or something to help force frontogenesis in the mid levels behind the surface cold front. You will have that, but best chance may be near cape. You can see on radar down south with the bowing of precip in western NC and VA. That is progged to slide near and just east of us.

Typhoon Tip
9 hours ago, The 4 Seasons said: I really think winter storm warnings and advisories should be based on impact and not just an exact snowfall criteria measured on a white reflective surface cleared every six hours perfectly placed. Even with general forecast from the private sector or news stations, when there is a substanial difference i think there should be two maps, one for roads/sidewalks/highways and one for grass/decks/roofs/wood etc. The former is what has the real impact, not the latter. Or they can at least mention and emphasize the difference in accumulation on different surfaces. Agreed ... Quantum Field theorists can contemplate the IQ of God, yet ... "Meteorologism" has no f'n clue how to assess whether 6" on a cold measuring board is going to mean the same thing on a sidewalk and street that day. It's a matter of priorities like everything, I suppose. But geez, one might think time and energy would be pragmatically expended polishing those definitions and applications .. considering snow's efficacy has a direct physical/environmental impact. Buuut, considering the societal endowment for capital ambition is a total roll-up value in the trillions, while babies are dying from diseases that have millions devoted to researching cures, perhaps it's understandable from this particular species. We deserve our plight ... this climate change shit is going to cause at minimum a limited scale apocalypse - anyone that doesn't know or suspect that is either in denial or incredible f'ing stupid and [ most likely ] default line-toeing and contributing hugely to making that happen. Which ... is 97 percent of all people.
