Bingo!

The September 25, 1941 Wind Storm – This was actually the remnants of a Hurricane that had made landfall on the Texas Gulf Coast on the 23rd. The storm raced into the Great Lakes region and merged with a cold front, leading to an intense wind storm. Wind gusts up to 75 MPH hammered southeast Michigan for several hours and led to extensive damages. This is the only record of the remnants of a hurricane moving into Michigan and actually producing hurricane force winds.

Long track of high winds and wind damage along the track of the COC of Olga.

Still not sure why things are being treated as severe t’storms though.

.

Now there are severe thunderstorm warnings for it in southern IN.

Nobody probably knows what to do with it.  From a duration perspective, the situation is more in line with severe thunderstorms... in and out.  Usually wind advisories/high wind warnings are issued for something that lasts at least a bit longer.

Really dumping outside.  Some streets have a lot of standing water for the amount of rain that has fallen.  Think the sewers might be blocked with leaves.

Actually encountered several inches of water flowing across one road.  About to get into the dry slot though.

Same here further northwest.

There has been higher leaf drop here today with the rain, so I’m sure that is definitely playing a roll. Especially since we’re only sitting at just over 1” here.

Midway COOP just reported 2.50".  Some other amounts near 2" being reported.

LOT radar is really underestimating totals.

Through 10:51 pm CDT, Chicago had picked up 2.10" rain. That brings the year-to-date precipitation total for 2019 to 46.92". As a result, 2019 has moved past 1993 when 46.90" precipitation was measured to become Chicago's 9th wettest year on record. Records go back to 1871.

Have a real shot at 50"
